This was one of the most disappointing escape rooms I have ever been to. FIRST OF ALL, this is located inside of an “extreme park.” If you book before you get there, there is no indication that you also need to pay admission to the place itself, but you do. Its only $5 a person but arriving to do a room after having paid hundreds of dollars online and then being told you need to pay an additional $5 a person just to enter the facility is extremely frustrating and felt deceptive.
The staff are clearly not trained to be game masters. If you are used to escape rooms where the people working there add anything to your game, forget about it. They don’t tell you the story, they don’t seem to have a way to see you in the room, and they only communicate over walkie talkies. They do not always respond immediately over the walkie and they accidentally gave us a clue when someone else asked for help. Upon escaping, they didn’t even congratulate us or offer to take our picture. They also didn’t tell us how fast we escaped without us explicitly requesting that information. There is no way in the room to see how much time has passed unless you ask for a time check on the walkie.
The room had some cool theming aspects but it was ruined by the do not touch stickers that were placed all over everything and things that were clearly falling apart due to age and lack of repair.
Finally, the puzzles. There are very few puzzles in the room. Almost everything was find something and do something that is explicitly stated. Ie: find a key and put it in the lock. Or find a code written somewhere and put it in the place it specifically shows you to put it in. There were only 2 puzzles that actually required you to solve for the answer. They both involved some basic math so warning for people who hate math. I am trying to make this as spoiler free as possible, so without saying too much one of the puzzles required using a tool that was set to the wrong setting with no indication of the proper setting. It also was extremely temperamental so you sometimes had to use the tool multiple times. After being frustrated trying the same thing multiple times and being sure we were doing the right thing, we eventually had to call the game masters for help. They didn’t respond the first 2 times we called for help, waiting multiple minutes in between and when we finally got help, that was when we realized it was set to the wrong setting. Overall, a disappointing experience and I would not recommend doing it. It was frusterating because I did an escape room here many years ago and remembered it fondly. I don’t know if this room is just worse, if things have changed, or if I was just an inexperienced...
Read moreI’ve done over 20 escape rooms in Florida and this is one of the worst experiences I’ve had. For context: I did Geneva with two friends (5/13/2023)
when we did the knocking in the closet they did not manually unlock the door for 10-15 minutes. We knocked the same way over and over and ended up wasting a hint to be told that we were knocking correctly in the first place.
we asked for not one, not two, but THREE hints on the weighing in the second room and we were given the same hint over and over and over and only AFTER we finished the escape room one of the employees told us that we didn’t even unlock one of the things we needed for that room. So our escape room operator continuously gave us a hint knowing that we were missing a clue and had no chance of solving the puzzle we were literally asking for hints on (and she knew we were missing it because the books needed for it were in plain sight on the couch). *we were specifically told after the escape room that people often have difficulty with that part by a different employee so the fact that the operator didn’t even try to help us is off putting.
we were told that the reason why things were unlocked late was because our attendant was busy with other parties but when we spend almost $100 dollars for an experience I feel ripped off knowing that we were knowingly being ignored. The rooms are great and well designed but it’s not fair that they weren’t paying attention and ruined the...
We did Dine in at Dusk - we are not experts but have done about 30 rooms in USA and abroad. While the rooms had great decor, and all wires/hinges/etc were hidden - meaning the y took the time to really set up the room right - there were to many negatives to recommend Evolution.
PRICE - $36 is WAY too expensive for the room. Better value elsewhere, in my opinion at better rooms. LOCATION - Located in Xtreme Action Park - expect to be overwhelmed by noise lights and crowds to get access to the Evolution. Sensory overload walking through. And on weekends, packed with people, mostly younger. Cops at the doors, tells you something about issues they may have there. O let's also mention the alcohol sold right outside the Escape Room. PLAYERS - 10? Really? Optimal size for any room is 6 or less, At 10 its way too many people. Plus you don't get the room to just yourself - if there are 6 spots left, they will have walk ins form Xterme who can book the spots. Not fun at all to walk over each other in a room. AT $6 per person and 10 people per room - not a good value. GAME PLAY - just not a great game. Without giving away anything, there are too many leaps of logic, incongruous puzzles, lack of cohesiveness. What could have been an excellent room was mediocre.
And we escaped without solving all the puzzles - go figure. Two locks were still left without...
