We came from offshore and could not get to Harbor Towne Marina because the tide was not at its high. We decided to stay overnight at Sails. I called them at around 17:45 (15 mins to close). The guy who answered the phone - TIM NIPPLE was absolutely unprofessional and rude. He told me he already quit work for the day and wants to go to his family and hanged up because "my English is poor". Stunned I called back and I asked him who he was - he responded, while the wind was blowing into my headset - that he was the marina owner and the God himself.
I gave him CC number and we proceeded to dock. He was not there despite threats of "confrontation" he made to me after I said I will write appropriate review on the net.
The magnitude of TIM NIPPLE'S unprofessional behavior made me come to the marina two days later so I could, while picking up my invoice, see him in person. When he showed up he was shaking and not even mumbling anymore, he could not simply say a word. He typed said invoice three times making basic grammatical errors as he has never been to school. His hands, while he handed it over were literally flying two inches sideways. Not that strong anymore, are you Tim Nipple ?
I would highly recommend the management of Sails to fire this guy out of Western Hemisphere and stop loosing clientele any further. Sails is not cheap, but while other marinas are full - it is empty. Your owner/God/dockmaster is the reason.
The next day we went to Harbor Towne Marina - people, that is the place to be. Professionals, nice, smiling, communicative, helpful and so on and on.
Avoid Sails unless you want to elevate yourself by...

Don't let the price tag scare you off. It is well worth what you pay for. Unlimited drinks (champagne, bloody marys, mimosas and rose), buffet spread and panoramic views while eat. Valet parking is also included.
If you know anything about the upper floor of Pier 66, its that the room spins. And it does. But just the dinning floor. The center stays still so careful while your getting food! The way you came may not be the same way back to your table.
We arrived at 11am to be prompt for our 11:30 seating. Teri greeted us and let us know that we could go open but untill then, we were encourged to begin our drinking at the bar with some mimosas (included in the $75/person fee). As you arrive to the roof top, the elevator opens into an arrival area with the concierge. They verify for reservation and seat you. Once seated, the experience begins. Your glass is never empty and you never have empty plates at your table. There is oh so much food to explore and taste. From appetizers to parfaits to pancakes to noodle bars and sushi, it isn't possible to not find something delicious. They also have a balcony area for photos and getting some air.
Janice was our server and was AMAZING through it all. She took our photo outisde and made sure our table was clean and glasses were full. I would HIGHLY recommend this brunch...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWith the recent major renovations, Pier 66 is a beautiful oasis located off the 17th Street causeway. Access is largely via auto, as it didn't seem easily accessible by walking. Taking a ride share (Uber, Lyft) is a good option as the Valet gets backed up at peak times. If you drive there via pickup truck, be aware you will be slapped with a $40 charge. The valet advised that they charge less for cars, but his boss "doesn't want trucks in our garage, so they had to park my truck under the bridge." It would have been considerate if they had mentioned this when I drove in and offered an alternative. No such luck. The food at SoloGrande was ok, the kitchen had a challenge getting the ingredients listed on the menu into the actual dishes (a fig salad with no figs, etc ). Our server was absolutely fantastic!, She assisted in correcting the kitchen slip ups swiftly with a huge dose of humor, as she made the evening wonderful for us. All of the staff we encountered in the restaurant were professional, polite and efficient. Prices were very fair for the quality, making the parking more expensive...
