I have been staying at this hotel for over six years for work related functions. Each time, I think to write a crappy review, but I rarely reviews at all, let alone negative ones. I would like to stress that a lot of employees try their hardest, the lovely girl that works at the coffee shop downstairs is incredibly helpful, as well as the head of valet. Today, I would like to summarize a few experiences over that long time period to offer a general picture that I would say has remained pretty accurate:
Customer Service: this hotel truly caters to businesses and sports it seems, with different teams staying at the resort while I've been there. Truly, if you aren't a million dollar customer they don't care. it is very hard not to be sitting in a common area without getting asked by employees to join rewards programs. It's uncomfortable, and your team could be doing something else that's less cringe for them and probably offers a better ROI in terms of time use. anytime I call for customer service, takes (no joke) 15 minutes to reach a human. The machine asks for your information without giving you an opportunity to input it in the system, taking clients around the block several times before getting to a human. When I commented on this, employees say "yea we know, maybe just do it online and book there" when the reason for calling was not even a booking. Team at the front tries to help, but they do not communicate packages, room help, calls, etc. I asked a receptionist about an amazon package i received, it took them two days to give it to me, with multiple trips to the front and concierge to follow up with them and check. I drive a manual, not only would the valet not admit they couldn't drive manual, let alone let me park my own car— they pushed it in neutral down the ramp to the entrance and left it outside on the curb even though I paid for covered, valeted parking. Took two days to have someone finally be able to drive it for me, took talking to their manager to allow me to move my own car as only one valet drives manual. We work wild hours sometimes, so we don't get back until late at the hotel. you cannot buy anything from the convenience store (even a drink or a candy bar) if the barista isn't there. everything is still available to grab, but front won't ring. -IF YOU ARE TRAVELING FOR A BUSINESS TRIP, for the love of all that's good have an awards account where you can access your folio or have it printed on the spot— good luck getting it otherwise.
Rooms, cleanliness: -There are two "towers" and the quality difference between the two is still pretty drastic despite renovations in recent years. The outside tower Doesn't have great security either, and its kinda easy to get on the floors. Particularly alarming as there is no lobby. -One time, the ice machine broke on our floor at 1 am, and beeped every 3 seconds loudly for over 15 hours until they fixed it, despite several late night calls from residents (found out the next day) -There is a lot of humidity in some of the "older" rooms, the updates are nice, but keeping the Florida weather out isn't always the most successful.
Amenities/ Restaurants literally none? they closed the outdoor bar/ dock area a few years ago, so you have very limited breakfast slot and dinner slot with an even more limited bar time (just a few hours). Unless you want to uber food, you have to drive at least 5 minutes to get anywhere and get food. No walking areas. it feels that this hotel is waiting to die. With the development of a new hotel opening next year connected to BCC, its pretty obvious this hotel is just counting it's days an doing the absolute...
Read moreIt was the worst hotel experience we have ever had. We arrived 2 days late due to weather at 8:30 pm, we were totally exhausted. My husband asked for water, no water because we weren't Hilton members, had to melt ice cubes on the balcony in a pill bottle so I could take my medication. Veiw was beautiful but doesn't make the Hotel, the bathroom was nice, no drinking glasses, no water, bed comfortable but didn't feel like a queen. Door was very hard to open handle seemed broken, you can hear all the noise from the hall. Bare Bones Decor, not classy. In the morning, daylight it's in an industrial area out front, could not see what is around, stores, restaurants etc. So we had to eat at the hotel restaurant Olive & Sea at $75 for 2, they called it a buffet for breakfast, very minimum options, room temperature food, the yogurt, fruit and nuts were good. It does say on the website that breakfast is free to registered guests. I told my husband that if they don't give you water you aren't getting breakfast. Lol. It was my Husband's 70th Birthday we had only that one day left before we got our cruise. We went to the pool beautiful area, we thought we could finally start to enjoy our trip. Other guests warned us about the poor food at the pool restaurant so after the breakfast we didn't enjoy we were not going to eat there. We went back to our room and we were locked out. Front desk told us that we were no shows so our reservation was canceled.. WHAT?? We were already in the Hotel and our room was paid for months ago for 4 nights, it was our room. They argued with us that we didn't keep them up to date on our arrival, so we were considered a no show..it was like talking to a wall. I have numerous emails from my Travel agent to whom he talked to at the Hotel to keep them up to date on our arrival. I had to prove to them on my phone that we had pre paid for a package through our Princess cruise trip, it was embarrassing. That evening we confirmed with Princess reps of our departure from hotel to ship. Our luggage was to be picked up from our room from Hotel staff, that didn't happen upon inquiring why..we were told it was because our reservation was canceled and we weren't even on the Princess sheet for leaving..What?? I was basically called a lair as I went back to the Princess rep, they showed of course we were on the list. Every step was a fight with that Hotel. The Princess reps were amazing and shocked as well as others that saw how we were treated. The Hotel staff kept blaming Princess and us for how we were treated because we were no shows.????.one hotel employee just wouldn't let that go. Princess went above and beyond, they even got me out of the hotel on the first bus to the ship, I was so happy with the service we received from Princess. The Hotel had the worst customer service, no empathy, just exhausting to deal with. It did make me feel better when other guests saw what happened and said they would never stay there again either, I felt defeated I was crying thought I was loosing my mind, it was horrible especially for my Husband's Birthday vacation. The next day we were getting charges on our card, we didn't owe anything upon checking out, reported it and canceled our credit card. We stayed at a Hilton in kelowna for 2 nights on our way to Fort Lauderdale, the hotel was beautiful inside, great customer service, complimentary breakfast, all day coffee and water stations. It's obvious all Hiltons...
Read moreI am a diamond level HH member. My wife and I came to FLL for a Disney cruise. We stayed here for one night before the cruise and one night after the cruise.
I read the reviews here when booking, so I was braved for the worst. I do my best to go with the flow and not stress over small issues, but I am fully willing to complain or post a bad review when they are truly earned.
The hotel itself is extremely close to the cruise port (5 minute drive). There are not a lot of stores/restaurants within easy walking distance. The hotel is situated about midway between the airport, downtown, and the beach (15 minute drive to each).
Both stays were essentially flawless. No issues of note. Lobby was clean and organized. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. We received complimentary diamond upgrades on both stays. Note that the hotel will only assign upgrades at the front desk when you arrive. They waive the early check-in charge for diamond members (not sure about other tiers).
The hallways, elevators, and common areas were clean and in good repair. We did not use the pool or fitness room, but both appeared to be in good shape. Be aware that some of the rooms in the East and West Villas buildings are a bit of a walk (not too bad, though).
We had king rooms with intracoastal/harbor views - room 717 in the tower and room 3250 in the East Villas. Both were clean, comfortable, and appeared to have been updated somewhat recently. Size of the rooms was average. Plenty of bedside plugs and USB charging ports. Bedside light switches within easy reach. Bed was comfortable. View from balcony was good. The rooms have beverage coolers only (no fridges and no microwaves). I didn’t check to see if the rooms had safes.
The bathroom in room 717 had an unusual double-barn-style door. It fit nicely with the decor, but is probably not practical for a high-volume tourist/convention hotel. The doors worked OK, but they were starting to show wear. The bathroom door in room 3250 was a standard swing door with frosted glass panels.
The bathrooms were average-sized, fairly recently updated, and clean. Shower was a good size (looks like it used to be a shower over tub, but now shower only). Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were in large pump bottles attached to the shower wall. All were filled. Good water pressure and temperature.
The hotel restaurant/bar was nice. About average pricing as hotel establishments go. There is outdoor seating, which looks nice, but we chose to stay inside for the air conditioning.
Cuisine is Mediterranean, so you may end up trying something new. We ordered pizzas and salads, and they were good. The fresh baked bread was amazing. I also really enjoyed the blackberry bourbon mule signature cocktail. The restaurant service was fine.
There is a little coffee shop with grab and go food in the lobby. We did not try it out.
The resort fee is twenty dollars. With that you get twenty dollars food/beverage credit, among other things. Diamond members get fifty dollars (total) credit.
Overall, we were very happy with our stays, and found this hotel to be as good as other hotels of the same brand. Maybe this hotel is starting to turn...
