HanNam Mart is one of the area’s premier Asian (mainly focused in Korean) supermarket. Its proximity to the George Washington Bridge and the route 46 makes this market highly accessible and convenient. HanNam features very authentic Korean ingredients, groceries, home goods, produces, seafood and snacks. Overly authentic at times and that’s why this mart attracts less foreigners and more Korean seniors. I go to this mart to purchase specialty items such as Goshen Kimchi and Ma’s blood sausage. However, it appears HanNam becomes less competitive in the East Coast and being outcompeted by the NJ-base H Mart who is enjoying the massive home court advantage.

Hannam Chain was founded in 1988 in Los Angeles, California, during a period when the Korean-American population in Southern California was expanding rapidly. Many Korean immigrants sought familiar ingredients and foods that were difficult to find in mainstream American grocery stores at the time. Hannam Chain stepped in to meet this need by importing Korean products and providing a place where customers could access authentic Korean food, snacks, and household goods.

Like most korean markets, it is more on the expensive side considering the tariffs that's recently imposed. But they do have very authentic and SK local ingredients. Inside the market you can find a small food court and a soondae (순대) stand as well as bunggeopang (붕어빵) stand. Most accept only cash but the food court accepts credit cards. Plenty of FREE parking outside the market.

This review is on HANNAM BUNSHIK, I suppose the restaurant has responsibilities to uphold HANNAM market as well. My family, all of my large family members have gone to the restaurant as we shop at the market. Literally at least 3 times a week, spent at least 50,000 a year in groceries with all of my family put together for years. Although there are many different options in the Fortlee area we were loyal customers. Today I had the most incredibly HORRIBLE experience at the restaurant. I ordered mul naengmyun and the noodles seemed soft. It has never happened to me so I let the cashier know. After a few minutes the owner or manager or some ignorant guy came to the front and asked me not to order these types of food if I am going to complain. He said he tasted the food in the back. First of all who in their sound mind would taste food a customer dug into, isn’t that Health hazardous. He then asked me not to come back . Shame on him if he is the owner. He must either hate his business or he is just an ignorant man with no education.knowing a typical Korean man he probably worked his butt off to educate his children, yet he forgot to educate himself along the way. I wonder why people like that should even run a business. Regardless I feel that I am going to make it a mission to have the restaurant boycott from my church and everything in my power so the descent Korean population that ignorant business owners like this needs to be taught a lesson. Just because of his ignorance he has caused the market to lose its business as well. It’s a shame to admit I am also Korean and it is rare to find such ignorance in our community. He needs to get back to learning social skills before...

Terrible customer service. Very often, Hannam NJ sells spoiled produce and I had to throw out most of them because they were not edible. This time, I decided to return them but the person at the customer service didn't seem to be properly trained. She never apologized or said anything. Rather, she was abrupt and her attitude was inappropriate. She just handed the receipt out to me without saying anything. I felt really insulted. Who wants to go back to the market in this time of pandemic situation. They made a customer visit the store again for return by selling almost perished produces. Above all, the customer service was so bad that they didn't seem to be sorry for the inconvenience that customer had to go through. This is not the first time that I had similar experiences previously. "PLEASE MAKE YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE IMPROVED AND TRAIN EMPLOYEE HOW TO...

This place seems to be getting worse and worse every year. They do offer some items that are not available at 5 local Hmarts in the area but often many items are close to expiration date or are just priced too high.

Their produce department used to be their strength but now many things are close to rotting because they never seem to throw anything out.

Recently, with NJ banning single use shopping bags, they got rid of workers that used to help cashier bag groceries. Since customers are expected to bag their own groceries with cashiers just watching customers, check out lines have gotten unbearably slow.

I think they are just giving up because their website has been down for several months and no one knows what is happening to...
