Great place to buy rotten meat. I bought several packages of steaks that were marked down, the guy doing the meat packing there had just put them out and he told me he was marking them down "because the color wasn't great" but he assured me they were fresh and fine and that he had just packed them. They didn't look terrible so I bought a few packs. I got them home and opened the first pack and the meat was completely rancid, I mean it smelled like road kill. I opened another and another until I had opened them all and they all smelled rotten. They were cheap so I just threw them in the trash, I had no intention of driving all the way back to the store but I did call the store to tell them they are selling rotten meat to people thinking they would be grateful for the warning and pull it from the shelves. Instead what I got when I called was an aggressive, obstinate old man who refused to even acknowledge that they could sell a spoiled product, instead he got angry and told me I just didn't know anything about meat, that the rotten smell was normal because gasses build up in a sealed package. While that is partly true, that process only happens to that degree when the meat has already spoiled, it certainly doesnt happen in less than an hour after being packed. My guess is they either found expired meat that they tried to repackage as fresh, or they left a case of meat out above room temperature for several hours and it spoiled. Either way, the meat was rotten and the old guy was defending it like it was perfectly normal. When we were arguing he said that he had worked as a butcher in the past so he knew what he was talking about. Yeah, I grew up processing farm meat and wild game and I went to a prestigious culinary school in Virginia where I was trained even further in food safety and meat cutting, etc, and I have more than 2 decades of experience as a chef, so pulling the "I know more than you do" card doesn't fly with me because I guarantee you don't. I should have just pulled the rotten meat out of the trash and put it on the health Inspectors desk rather than arguing with a complete moron. I have found expired dry goods and moldy produce on the shelves in this store before but I know sometimes things like that can slip through the cracks so I didnt let it bother me, but now that I know this is par for the course at this store I'm definitely not...
Read moreAlways well stocked and the management and staff make sure any products that have gone out of date are pulled off the shelves. I don't shop here often but when I am close by there are several items that I typically will pick up there. Plus it's very clean inside and I like that a lot and it has a large parking lot which makes it easily accessible and it's right next to one of my favorite restaurants in the area. The prices are okay and the quality of what you buy there is pretty good as well.
They have not changed the staff in quite a while And that's a good thing. Apparently the employees there are pretty happy and the store is always clean when I go in. Very clean in fact very...
Read moreOk y'all, it has been about a year since I shopped here. So I decided to go about a week ago. This store has made some major changes. First thing I noticed is the friendly people up front. The store is clean and well organized. I spoke to a young man in the Isle and he helped me find something. He was very nice. Then another man in the freezer section I think he is the one who does the ordering. I was asking about the hot fudge sauce they used to have but alas they no longer have it. But I had an enjoyable experience. If you go, I believe you will agree an A+...
