6 small children, physical activity to tire them out is a must. We are constantly searching for our next adventure and we landed here.
We have a pogo pass ( pay $50 per person gives you free access into events after that). So we were admitted in free. Prices are scary though, 27 for 4 hours. Per person hearty price when added up.
Felt it was super strange when we checked in. Most jumping facilities require specific socks with grips to insure people are not getting hurt and that wasn’t a thing here.
As we walked in our first goal was bathrooms. Bathrooms before we play so we aren’t playing run to a bathroom every 30 mins with different kids. Bathrooms were unacceptable. There were puddles of water EVERYWHERE. 2 stalls did not have toilet paper.
Put our shoes in the cubbies, there are ones you can purchase with a lock if needed!
First notice that the entire right side is a skate park like structure! Super cool, however never have been there and reading their website I assumed that they would have provided some scooters and skateboards and such. No where does it say bring your own supplies. Which isn’t a problem but had no clue.
The rest of the facility is broke into 6 sections.
Volleyball, foam balls kids throw at each other, cool.
Warped wall/ slide things. Kept them busy for 5 minutes TOPS.
Small rock climbing wall, CROWDED WITH CHILDREN. This is the place to be besides the trampolines
5 and under section. My kids ranged from 4 to 7 so we avoided that place.
Trampolines. Maybe 10 tramps packed with people waiting a turn. There is no time limit so if I chose to hog a trampoline for the 4 hours I was there for sucks to suck for everyone else. My family could have monopolized them. We’re not that kind of people but for sure they were there. Only one person on at a time. Which is for safety but this being one of the main reasons to go makes this place not as cool as some of the other sports places.
Lastly there was this for lack of better words cool pillow thing you jumped into. Which was not monitored. Kids were jumping from all directions when there are designated spots meant for you to jump. I’d assume one child is suppose to be on the pillow at one time and instead it was a pile up because before one kid could get up another one had jumped.
I’ve never seen anything like that section, so for sure it’s worth checking out.
Snack shack prices are surprisingly reasonable. They get big points there.
I didn’t check out whatever else was upstairs.
Overall there is better places to go but won’t hurt you to check...
Read moreIt took over 30 minutes to get a waiver signed accurately. The info I was putting in the app wouldn’t upload properly on their end. After three unsuccessful tries, the employee behind the register went to get his manager; he didn't communicate this, but his coworkers thought that might be why he left when I asked. We waited some more until the manager finally emerged. She had an attitude as soon as she saw us. She never once looked like she cared about the situation only, that it was a total inconvenience to “deal” with us. She never acknowledged the boys, although she knew they'd been waiting for a long time. We are more of anusense than a family that came to have a fun time. At last, I asked to fill out a printed waiver since the system wasn’t working. Enraged the manager slammed a chair while looking for hard copies. After nearly 40 min and $53, I asked if we could get the grip socks for free since we had been waiting so long. “It wasn’t our fault, so I can’t do anything for you.” Being this dismissive and rude to a paying customer with two children is deep. It goes far deeper than having a bad day. It's hate with a purpose. The notation that we don't deserve better is clearly evident here. If I had been a white lady with two little white boys by the side waiting around for 30 minutes, I am sure we would've been received with kindness and basic customer service. Customer service is the minimum you should give when you decide to work in the service industry (as this is!!!). If you don’t like black people, you are obligated to pretend for your 8-hour shift or at least care enough not to have two little brown boys feel your hate. They deserve better! You are way too young to be filled with such hate. You don't know anything about us; you feel entitled to your hatefulness. We are Danish. Do you know where Denmark is? Black people are everywhere, and we are nuanced, just like white people. We just moved here from Brooklyn because my client was traded to the Suns. We don't know anything about you either. I'm sure you are lovely, but all we received was your hate, which was disheartening and hurtful. I regret coming here today with my sweet boys. Perhaps the treatment we received was to deter us from coming...
Read moreI had taken my son to KTR Mesa many times several years ago and it was a wonderful experience. Tonight I took my friends three daughters to KTR Scottsdale for the first time for their first lessons and the experience was equally amazing. There are different owners between the two establishments, but my experience has shown that to professionalism of the young staff is second to none at each location.
They clearly are well trained to work with youth and they have a great combination of respect, fun, coaching, and positivity. The obvious draw is that it is an indoor skatepark. Less obvious is that it is much more kid friendly than the standard outdoor parks. Not only the safety more encouraged, you are less likely to deal with inappropriate conduct that might not be suitable for your young kids then you might encounter at some public skate parks.
They had decent bathrooms, snacks and beverages and the parking is very easy and it's a good location near the 101 freeway by Talking Stick Resort. We visited on March 7 or March 8th 2021 which was still during Peak concern of the covid-19 virus. Surprisingly, masks were not enforced although most people were still wearing them. It's something to consider if you choose to visit.
When I used to take my son to the Mesa location, helmets, elbow pads and knee pads were all required for all participant. At the Scottsdale location today, I saw that helmets were required but no other protective gear was. In any case, it is my opinion that staff always make the company and make the experience. It's worth repeating that the staff at every level more enjoyable to interact with.
Regardless of your own kids interest, whether it's riding bicycles, or playing volleyball or football or baseball or staying indoors and playing video games or chess, this type of experience is definitely as important as almost any other experience for kids, and an added bonus is that all you have to provide is the safety gear. They have plenty of skateboards to lindau...
