I had my hair and makeup done for my wedding. I was unhappy with the makeup while I was in the salon, but there was not time to re-do it. As it was, the appointment took much longer than expected and I was almost late for my own wedding. I got the professional photos today and I am heartbroken. The makeup was worse than I thought, and Ulta ruined my wedding.
I showed the stylist actual photos from six months earlier, when I had my hair and makeup done for my daughterâs wedding. We noted that I wanted to look natural, but better. The makeup I received was a Goth style. When she asked if I wanted lashes (which I checked when making the appointment), I was told to get out of the chair, pick them out, and pay for them at the main register, with 3 people in line ahead of me! I couldnât add them to my salon bill. That was part of why my session went beyond the two hours estimate I had when I scheduled the session. My appointment was at 11, I arrived early, and I told her I needed to be done by 1. I left at 1:45.
I was supposed to meet the photographer at 2:30. I was late, my nails werenât done, and my makeup was terrible. I had to cancel the nail appointment because she took so long. I had to ask her twice to look at my eyebrows because they were uneven. I had to ask her twice to use more blush. I mentioned that due to my age, I would need a lipliner, due to creases around my mouth. I was horrified when I saw that she used BLACK liner! I didnât have time to start over, I was already late. She said she would fix it by covering it with more lip color, which did not work. In my photos the black lip liner is prominent and hideous!
Most disgusting of all, I asked about buying the lip color so I could touch up and possibly keep the black liner hidden. She directed me to the Too Faced display with the tubes she used. I discovered she had used the TESTERS from the display! She used the applicators from the tubes, the ones that other people has used to test the products! I was so disgusted I just left, did a quick coat of polish at home, and rushed to the photographer.
As for my hair, I showed he a picture of a simple half-up style. She did a more elaborate braid, with my ok, and left some pieces out. She said she would curl them last. At the end, she tried to tell me my hair was finished, and I had to remind her to curl those strands.
When I saw some photos friends took, I was shocked by how terrible the makeup looked. The manager, Paige, did refund me the cost of the makeup. However, now that I have seen the professional photos, I believe Ulta ruined my wedding, I canât re-do that day.
Iâm still shocked that the testers are used for the salon makeup application. That is so unsanitary and probably against licensing.
Sorry this is so long. I decided to post this review because I donât want this to happen to anyone else. Do not go to Ulta for a special occasion. Itâs expensive, take too long, and you will look worse than when...
Read moreI arrived early, after they had been open for about thirty minutes. I wasnât greeted. Employees were walking around but nobody welcomed me in. I went straight to the high end makeup where there was only one employee working. She was assisting a customer. I know places are short staffed at the moment, but this employee walked by me three times and never acknowledged my presence. I think I found the correct face powder color. I had to use my own judgment, as this employee didnât seem to want to assist me. âŚ. Might be returning said face powderâŚ. Onto the hair section. There was one employee pushing a cart full of product. I had to ask her if she was an employee. She reluctantly nodded. Then I told her my hair situation - having highlights, I want a product that I can apply to take out my highlights and then add color to my hair, going back as close to my natural hue, without booking a salon visit. It was as though I was speaking another language. With hesitation, and still grasping the cart she was pulling, she said she thought she saw a product I could use, so then I asked if she could show me where it was. She seemed bothered, but she took me to the back of the store where her finger landed on a product, but then she quickly said, that she actually doesnât know where the product she was talking about was. So I walked over to the salon to seek professional help. Funny, I thought sales employees at Ulta should have some sort of beauty knowledge⌠Nobody was there. Their one and only stylist called out. Okkk, so then an older white woman came over to help. I can only assume she was the manager. I explained my hair situation again and she led me to the correct area. The cashier was very cold. She seemed bored or irritated that she had to ring me up. I would not go back to this store. If the âmanagerâ didnât help me, I was ready to drop my face powder and leave...
Read moreDO NOT COME HERE FOR AN EYEBROW WAX!!! I had a brow wax done at this Ulta last Friday at 5pm. The entire service was poorly done from how the associate communicated with me to how she did the actual waxing and post-wax skin care. I've been getting my brows waxed at Ulta salons for over 5 years and this associate was definitely not using the standard procedures and frankly didn't seem like she cared a whole lot. I did not realize the worst of it until the next morning when I woke up and discovered that I had a burn across length of my eyelid from where the associate had waxed too far down (see photo). I called the store when they opened on Saturday, left a message for the manager explaining that I had been burned by their associate during a brow wax. After not hearing back for several days, I called again on Tuesday morning and spoke to the store manager, who offered to refund me the cost of the appointment if I could come back in later that day. When I drove to the store on my lunch hour, the refund was processed by another store manager, who did not ask any questions about what had happened or show any concern that their associate had injured a customer. My intention in writing this isn't to get any compensation from the store, but I am uncomfortable with their lack of concern. Neither of the store managers took any information to file an incident report or other documentation of the situation. As a customer, there was no indication that they plan on taking any action to correct the mistakes that were made so this doesn't happen again to...
