I had two sales people: Carlton and Carly.
The first sales person was Carlton who I saw on a Saturday. He could not answer most of my questions, looked up a few things, but mostly kept telling me that the GE washing machine features I was asking about to differentiate among the different models were all marketing and not to worry about it. He also told me I was over-thinking. Maybe. But I wanted to understand the features of each model and be confident of making the right choice. At age 65, I have found the devil in many details.
He then gave me the wrong height for the stacked GE front load washer and dryer which meant they would not fit in my apartment laundry closet. When I told him that there was a GE front load washer and dryer there already, but with a 4.5 cu. ft drum (I wanted larger), he told me without even looking it up that those would be shorter. When I got home and looked it up after determining the washer was a Model 510, the total height for those machines was the same as the larger capacity ones I was asking him about (870, 950, 955).
After telling me the units I was looking at would be too tall to fit, he printed out information about the LG Wash Tower, gave me a couple of sentences of information about it, and sent me on my way without even showing it to me except to point at it when we went over to the printer.
Yes, I could have asked him to, but I didn't feel he wanted to answer any more of my questions, so I went home to do more research, as he suggested, knowing I would return on Monday; he had told me his partner Carly would be there and I had hoped she would be more patient and helpful.
Carly was wonderful and everything I want in a sales rep. Hell, I'd buy a car from her, and I've never met a car salesperson I truly trusted. It became clear from the moment I met her at reception that she would be willing to get answers to all my questions so I could be confident in my purchase decision.
Even as she greeted me at the reception desk and I explained why I was back, she knew immediately the combined height of the GE washers and dryers I was interested in. It meant I could get the units I wanted, once we determined which model would meet my needs.
We then went to her desk where she spent considerable time with me, answering or looking up all of my questions, persisting until she found the answers even as some of them were buried or unclear in the manuals. She even emailed the GE rep while I was sitting there about one question for which she couldn't find the answer. She then persisted with the manual and found the answer buried in another section.
I would, and surely will, recommend Yale Appliance to anyone who asks, and I will refer them specifically to Carly.
Oh, and Dorian and his installation team were great, also, as Carly told me they would be. I have some special needs due to a medical condition, and had to wipe down all sides of both units with a product that deactivates molds and mold toxins.
They all waited patiently as I did this, and Dorian even leaned the washer against himself to raise it so I could wipe underneath; that could not have been easy. (Fortunately, the dryer was still in the hallway and they could lay it on its side.). This all took quite some time, and Dorian spent half of it stuck behind the washer in the closet, without complaint!
Five stars for you,...
Read moreI purchased an induction cooktop in Oct 2024. A few days after the install, the stove was malfunctioning. The burners would not stay on while cooking. I called and reported the issue. The installation manager said it was likely due to the stove needing a software update. He assured me he would have a tech come out and take look and if they were not able to fix it, he would take the stove out. I ended up doing the software update myself through the app and it resolve that issue. The techs still came out and confirmed the stove was working properly.
A few months later, the center burner was not functioning properly. It would shut off while boiling water. Having another issue with a brand new stove is very disappointing.
I called and a tech was scheduled to come out. He came out and said he wanted to install a magnetic thing to have the power go through to help create a more stable power to the stove. That did not solve the problem.
Another site visit was scheduled to try and replace another part. While on route from my job to meet the tech at my house, the called and said the wrong part was sent to him and he needed to order another part.
Frustrating but also understandable.
Since then, I have had no communication with Yale. In the past I have asked to speak with a manager and they refuse. I am only able to speak with a customer service representative.
I am very disappointed in this product and more disappointed in Yale for not trying to resolve this matter to my satisfaction.
Update: I wanted to provide an update to my original review.
While it has been a long process, Yale has been able to secure a replacement cooktop for me and I have very appreciative of their help throughout their process.
I do think there could be better communication and ability to set expectations from a lead person when if comes to product issues, especially shortly after purchasing. But in the end, they are resolving the matter for me and I will be a...
Read moreVery strange, I left a 1 Star review about a week ago on a recent purchase. It was replaced with a five star review that I had left for them several years ago regarding a delivery person that had done a great job for me. I have since deleted that. That is definitely working the system. Let’s start by saying I’ve purchased from Yale for my Cape Cod property and a condo in Natick Ma. The cape property purchase included Dishwasher, Stove, Refrigerator, Washer dryer. The Condo in Natick included Dishwasher, Electric Stove, Refrigerator and a sink. I made the purchase 4 years ago for the condo in Natick. Within the last 30 days the refrigerator and stove both require major service. The service tech said the stove needs a part that is close to $500 and was advised the refrigerator is not worth fixing and I should buy a new one. I called a supervisor as It did not see right as I just bought the units 4 years ago and they get very little use. I would have bought one of thier warranties but they were $1000 per unit. They acted like this is business as usual. They said it was amazing that I have only had one service call for the stove in four years. I replied that my previous Home Depot unit lasted 15 years without an issue. And to throw away a refrigerator after four years was ridiculous. They asked me to give them a few days to figure out a resolution but never got back to me. two weeks later still no call. I left another message without a call back. I then left a 1 star review which got pushed down and replaced with a 5 star review I had left for a delivery guy several years ago. Still no call to this day, I guess they just figured they would push down the review and they were all set. Very disappointed. I also had a problem with my Cape cod property years back in which an internal part failed within 3 years and flooded my house. It seems as if I make a purchase at Yale Appliance, I can expect no more than a four year life span. I can’t be...
