Almost lost $1000 due to poor management!!! Crowded with college students- it’s essentially an overflow for Rutgers athletes. I started going to Crunch solely for personal training. I enjoyed my trainer and the sessions, great array of equipment. I ended my 3-months of personal training with trainer; she informed me that she would tell the manager I was cancelling. Then (weeks later), I find that I get charged $500+ for another month. I go to the manager after weeks of back and forth on the phone with people working the front desk (it seemed like he was NEVER there), and he tells me when I signed up he informed me that all cancellations must go to him directly and he supposedly told me this when I signed up. So I asked, “why then did my trainer tell me she would inform you?” He goes, “I don’t know…” at that point, I got very upset because I felt it was the job of the employees to remind clients of the policy. She never said, “oh make sure you talk to Charles.” There seemed to be an EXTREME discount from the trainer and management (now looking back). Long story short, I ended up getting charged for an additional 2 months of personal training ($1000+). I disputed the charged with my credit card company, and got ALL my money back! I will never go to crunch again. Personal training was great, I learned a lot. Though sometimes for the 1 hour sessions she would end 10-15 minutes early (which I felt was a waste of money). I’m sticking with my gym at the Grove Somerset!
Also, as many others have noted, several machines broken for an extended period of time. I also noticed a high turnover with the people that work there. So when I would ask questions (especially at the 5am shift) they generally don’t know what to do, or how to help me. That being said there were several people that worked there who were great and the atmosphere at the gym is very friendly. It seems that the manager is overworked and he’s doing the best he can.
I’m just happy I got all my money back! If this is your only option for a gym, I would just encourage you to be mindful of policies and cancellation dates (because they won’t remind you) to ensure you don’t end up losing money. Be persistent with any questions/concerns you have. I hope this...
Read moreBe aware!! The WORST experience I ever had at a gym! There is a so-called manager named Kyle who should NOT be working at this place. I've never felt so disrespected. I am a member of Jersey Strong. Due to the merge and acquisition by Crunch, I was obliged to become a member of Crunch and without my consent to use the facility in Woodbridge. When I called, I told them it was too far, and I was told that I could utilize my membership at other Crunch's locations. Which is the reason I went to Somerset. When I spoke to Kyle, the manager, he told me I was not allowed to use the gym. I explained to him my situation nicely and he was extremely rude. He told me my membership was only valid in Woodbridge. I told him that it was too far and I was told by the Woodbridge center that I could come here instead. So, I asked Kyle if I could try the gym at least, and he refused to allow me a 1 day tryout. I asked him why and he told me that they dont give away free try out and that I would have to pay for the day! I was shocked, how can a client know if they will like the gym if they can't try it. I told him that I was disappointed with this establishment, the service, the rudeness and that I will leave an honest review and feedback of my experience with him. He got mad and he looked at me as if he wanted to fight me. He had the audacity of threatening me for trespassing the building because I told him that I will leave an honest review. It is beyond my comprehension and how he can be the person responsible for this establishment.
To the owner of this facility, I hope that you will investigate this case.
For those of you considering Crunch in Somerset. I would run away from this place as fast as you can. It is one thing to get bad customer service, but it is another thing to be disrespected and threatened for setting foot in...
Read moreTry to go there with the free-pass and they didn't accept it. So the guy in front desk advised me to sign up for a month and just cancel it. To my question about the yearly fee, he said that "he was pretty sure" that i won't be charged if I cancelled after a month. Anywho, that's was not the case. Called the manager next morning, and asked him immediately to cancel my membership, he assured me "You're all good". After a month I get a charge from this location and after calling them, the NEW manager is telling me that I was still active, and no way to cancel the yearly fee, but i won't be charged for a month after. I said "screw it," this is what I get for trying to go there for free initially. Second month comes by, I get another charge on top of yearly fee. I call them and then the manager is telling me to call another 3rd party company that does their cancellation and monetary issues. To my best believe, it was the typical "call center" place with heavy accent reps, and I knew at that moment that I was not getting my money back. They told me to email them, which I did and I could not get a reply from them and neither from the management.
I I really try not to post negative reviews, but this business is really terrible. They wasted my time, front desk claiming something true but in reality it is not, and manager assuring me cancelling the membership and they did not. I got screwed for trying to go there with a free pass.
Their management, customer service and customer satisfaction is horrible. I will never ever again will choose Crunch and will not recommend this gym to anybody around me....
