I am not the one to write negative posts but this matter needs attention. After being a long time Hmart customer, it is time to move on and shop elsewhere. I had the worse experience at the customer service counter where I brought an issue to the customer service representative's attention and she turned me away because of the Hmart return policy. The rice pudding I bought had a bitter, unusual taste unlike the usual good taste it has had the previous times I've bought it. I brought in my receipt as well as the product itself, but she was not concerned about the actual product issue. Instead, she noticed the date and told me she would not give a return or exchange. All I wanted was an exchange because of the product's bad quality. It was around 3 weeks since I bought the product so she told me it was too late for an exchange. This return policy is truly unfair as I did not know this product was not going to be of quality--especially when it was no where near the expiration date. I would like to take this issue up to Corporate because as a loyal customer, I was not treated as one. The customer service lady tells another employee standing inside the customer service booth (in her language) about the situation and so she approaches me and tells me to take the product back home with me because they are not going to give me any return or exchange. This was brutally rude and distasteful. As soon as I asked for the store manager to discuss my issue with, the customer service lady turns around and speaks in another language to a man inside the customer service area. He turns around and tells me he is sorry but is not able to give me an exchange because he does not know where I may have placed the product as it needs to be refrigerated. This mind boggled me. I don't believe this was the manager as his response was rude and unprofessional (mind you, he was talking to me across the customer service booth in a high pitch voice instead of coming towards me--face to face interaction). The least that could have been done was to hear my issue and make sure the product's brand company was well aware of the issue so it would not occur again. I was not asking for money back, all I wanted was the issue rectified and a fair exchange for my paid expense. This whole experience has been horrific and has discouraged me from shopping here.

Read moreLove the fact that there is an authentic Asian store in the area.. like their fresh produces and Korea style cuts in the meat section and a bakery! (a lot inferior to other Korean chain bakeries but I still appreciate there is a Korean bakery!). I had two different incidents that were extremely unpleasant this year alone (went to ER for the mushroom and found a foreign object from their food) but I sort of endured and passed all of that without a major complaint (I normally take a legal action... and I've been very successful) just because of the same country fellowship(?) but today this small incident changed everything upside down. Visited there 8/1 around 11:20 am and wanted to create an acc for the loyalty card also brought my huge pack of receipts.. well, as soon as I handed them they laughed at my face and talked to each other in a very derogatory manner while I was in front of them. Calling me "this ah jum ma" (hey! I'm not there yet ha ha).. I was shocked by their attitudes and extremely offended by how they treated me.. Well, I know my little review does not really affect any of their future behavior or perception, but had to do something to cope from that trauma ! I am just an individual with one person household so it won't affect their annual revenue nor corporate level profit, but I can simply consider other substitutes from the area just to make myself feel better..It's not totally rational, but I just don't want to go back there! Read moreI am fairly new to the area and have shopped here four times already, the area isn't easy to get international products that I am looking for so I end up coming back here for what I needed . Today was the worst experience of all the times I have shopped. The prices are noticeably higher here than the area I left (Ellicott City) and the store could be cleaner. Anyways I decided to check out the seafood department for some fish today. As I approached the counter no one greeted me or asked if I needed help. I counted four workers behind the enclosure. Also when I placed an order for kingfish I asked for 1pound because I wanted to try the fish out. The worker looked like he did not understand what I was saying. I know everyone does not speak english and I understand that, however working behind the seafood counter when a customer holds up 1 finger and says pound numerous times. I really have a hard time understanding what wasn't understood. He bagged up 3.25#s of fish. I then directed him to just a pound again. He seemed to have a problem by me ordering one pound. He grunted and shook his head while rebagging my fish. I ended up placing another order for 2 whole fish, he seemed more pleased with the second order because he no longer grunted and shook his head. I waited for the fish to get cut up. When I was handed the fish orders the bags were wet and fish drippings were everywhere. When I got home some of the fish dripping where all over my groceries. I was livid!!! Anyways... I hope you all do better. The area is becoming more diverse and it would be lovely to have a nice clean place coupled with amazing customer service. These things...
