Once Upon a Child — Attraction in Fresno

I just recently moved out here and have consigned before. I will start off by saying that if I could give this establishment a negative star I would. I see a recent of common thread in comments regarding staff and selling of items.

I will start off by saying I DON'T KNOW how this place has remained in business. I have taken items to sell a total of 3 times and purchased once, that was enough to say NO MORE. When I brought my first items in I could not believe the level of rudeness, I let it go and assumed it was a bad day as the store was a bit busy. The amount I was given for my items was decent considering it was gently used and a few new. The second time I brought in items to sell, I was given less than the original purchase price of my items mind you most of my items were still in new condition as my son had only wore the clothes once and some not at all (tags were still on). I let that go as well seeing as how my husband, my son and I had just moved out here and needed to down size. However, at this second visit I was assisted by the owner who was RUDE (how you've managed to stay in business is beyond me) it makes me question how she can get rave reviews and a good portion of stars when her customer service skills are lacking as well as the rest of her staff. Needless to say, when I asked what was wrong with some of the items that I got in return I was informed that they were either too faded stitching was missing or there were some stains on them. It was kind of odd that I was given this information being that a good portion of our items were in storage prior to moving and unworn and some still in boxes. This happened to me ever time. The one time I did make a purchase the clothes on the shelf was faded, some clothes had lint balls attached to them, and some even smelled like they were not washed prior to being put on a clothes rack. One of the items I purchased had a hole in it. I was also informed that if I wanted to bring an items for sale they must be unfolded so that it makes it easier for them to decide whether it will be purchased or not. Upon returning the items they're all balled up and you can't even close the lid on your box when bringing it back out to your car. All in all I will say I will never return to this store or highly recommended to anyone else. The owner and her staff need to attend customer skills seminars because currently their customer service skills...

I have been a consistent and faithful shopper and seller for this store since opened a few years ago. I usually am not the one to rate but I figured I would help others wondering about this store.

I must say that the customer service has significantly declined over the past couple of years. I have brought items to sell the last couple of times and the staff has been unwelcoming and arrogant making me feel like I’m bothering them. Their guidelines for buying items is inconsistent and makes no sense honestly. I have many complaints.1. They ask for sellers to bring items washed and folded in boxes but when not purchased they are balled up and thrown back in the box. 2. I have been told the reasons for not buying items are because the clothing are either not in “new condition”or “missing items”but if you look around the store, you can find clothing that is faded or dingy and toys with incomplete parts. Makes you wonder why they really don’t buy what you bring in and if it all just depends on the mood of the employees that day. 3. This has slowly turned into a boutique rather than a resale store. I brought toys to sell and was told they couldn’t accept because they “sell their own and it’s new anyways”. Defeats the purpose of saying the store is a resale store. Loading the items in the car is not an easy task and it would be a lot easier to say what items they do and don’t accept and would avoid inconvenience to the sellers. 4. As mentioned before the employees are unwelcoming and rude at times. I understand that the store can get overwhelming at times but either the store needs to hire more staff or find a solution to better the way they talk to buyers.

With all this said, the last time I came to this store and was treated this way I was giving them one more chance and just assumed they were having a bad day that day. I will not be returning to this store to buy or sale. I’ll rather donate my items or sale on a private app than to waste my time at this place. This place was welcoming and friendly when they needed business, now that the store is with full inventory and basically a boutique now they don’t appreciate the sellers. Definitely do not recommend to anyone. You will just waste your time...

I was very disappointed with their customer service. I went in to both buy and sell items. They have requirements about how the clothing is presented (lay it flat) that I can not find anywhere on the website. I brought all of the items neatly folded. Although I have shopped here before I have never sold clothing. Apparently (although it is not on the website that I could find) all 12 month and below clothes should be sold in sets--although they buy onesies, they refused BRAND NEW onesies because they were white. They also refused several items because they were over washed. I can accept that, except that I have PURCHASED items with the same amount of wear (I use these for play clothes rather than school clothes) from this same stores. Everything I brought was stain free, mostly new or gently used. I was told to make my purchase (I was going to buy a few things) when I picked up the cash to avoid paying tax. The woman rang me up and didn't do this--then they told me it was too late because she had already cashed out the ticket. I went through the things they returned to me as unsellable (which was most of what I brought) and they identified SEVERAL items that they actually COULD HAVE BOUGHT. Not to mention that the clothes were just thrown back into the box (when I had them neatly folded in the box and bag I brought them in). I just found the customer service to be EXTREMELY lacking today. This has not been the case in the past (when I believe I have dealt with the owner). I will find another place to take my clothing. I was so angry at the lack of professionalism and courtesy, and lack of contrition when they were clearly WRONG about the items they could have bought from me. I will NEVER sell clothes there again and I'm thinking twice about buying from here. Some of the clothes are reasonably priced, but many you can get new for the same price. If you do buy from here, do yourself a favor and don't sell or only deal...
