TLDR: $700 & 10 hours of my time, had to get it fixed 3 times b/c the color wasn’t right, even with a clear picture. Bleached 3 times in 48 hours, so my hair is damaged. Gray hairs STILL peppered throughout and visible. Stylist only cuts and colors, inexperienced interns do everything else… you still pay the full stylists price though.
Full Story:
I will start by saying their haircuts are great and everyone is nice. That’s where it ends. Writing a bad review for this place is so sad because they were sweet people. But for a total of $700, I expected the work to be good too.
I had a picture of EXACTLY what I wanted. They didn’t get the color right. Okay, color matching is hard, I get that. So they had me come back to get it fixed. So I had to ask off of work another day, waste hours of my time to get it fixed. Second time, still didn’t get it right. Fixed it again that same day. They bleached my hair 3 separate times within 24 hours. The damage shows. It was just okay at this point so I just left. They didn’t even bother styling it after fixing it which I thought was unfair. Usually when you get your hair done, you make that style last a couple days. But I got it fixed the next day and they had an intern messy dry it enough so I could see the color. Looked awful.
$700 and an intern was washing and blow drying my hair. It would’ve been fine if it was an experienced one but she was brand new. Ripped a bunch of my hair out while brushing it (3 times of this girl ripping my hair out, since they bleached THREE times). Then lost control of the water hose and sprayed the water on my face. Accidents happen and it’s totally understandable but she then blamed me for moving instead of apologizing. I moved BUT after my face was sprayed to save my makeup. The blowdryer tip was literally touching my hair, steaming, and I could smell my hair burning.
This is a high end salon with prices almost double that of other places. Gray hairs are still showing. Yeah it’s been a month now but these grays are 2+ inches long. Hair doesn’t grow 2+ inches in one month. Definitely not mine after what they did to it. Also, one month and the blonde is already getting orangey……….. for $700, one month of blonde.
My experience was 0 stars. The haircut was good and everyone was nice. So I gave 2. But everything else was just so awful, it outweighs the good. I would’ve let this all go if my hair had turned out okay and the grays were covered. But after 10 hours of my time, it still wasn’t!
I would not recommend this salon and I will be taking my...

EDIT: Since management has responded, I need to make clear that stylist’s pay is 100% important. This could have been easily handled as a “warning” or even the manager, who responded below, could have called back themself. Instead, they decided to deliver it in the most unprofessional manner possible. My review stands. Much better places elsewhere.
After five years of loyalty to Aalam in Frisco — including both my wife and daughter regularly getting their hair done there — we are officially done with this salon.
Today, my wife had to cancel her appointment due to illness in our home. Out of consideration for others, she chose not to risk bringing potential strep into the salon. Instead of receiving understanding or professionalism in return, she was met with a condescending call from someone who wasn’t even a manager, telling her she would now have to prepay for all future appointments because she’s canceled three times… in five years.
Seriously? Three cancellations in five years — one of which was to protect your staff and guests — and this is how you treat longtime clients?
There was no courtesy. No empathy. No professionalism. Just a cold policy delivered without tact or respect.
A manager couldn’t even be bothered to pick up the phone.
Aalam has now lost both my wife and daughter’s business. We’ll be spreading the word. There are plenty of salons in Frisco that know how to treat people right — and many of them are more affordable, too.
Save your time, your money, and your dignity....
Read moreI am a former hairdresser and have been displeased with ALL haircuts for about 10 years. It's like no one goes above and beyond anymore. I've tried a ton of "Master" stylists and even they fall short. The last experience I had, the "Master" hairstylist was so full of ego, that he did not fully listen to what I wanted. I asked for a very edgy, asymmetrical bob and I got a rounded off Mom/ Karen haircut. I'm in my early 30s and felt like I looked 45.
Fast forward to last Tuesday, I was incredibly nervous but hopeful. I have followed Liyu for about 2 years and have kept up with her pictures on the salon's Instagram. All of the haircuts that stood out to me were done by her.
I showed up and she immediately greeted me with her awesome personality. Her conversation was easy-going and her attention to detail was hard to compare to any other stylist. She listened closely and paid attention to ALL of the things I told her I liked and disliked. Needless to say, she more than wowed me.
I have not left a salon happy in about 10 years. She cut my hair, texturized it, and styled it beautifully. I feel like I'm saying "Yes to the dress," when talking about her because I feel like I finally found my hairdresser!!!!!
Thank you for being awesome Liyu. I can tell you're doing what you are passionate about. It shows in your work!!!
Fast forward to December 2021:
I was saddened to see that Liyu was gone and no one could tell us where she went. After some deep digging I FOUND HER!!! She’s now at City Salons in Addison @...
