Edit: I am very disappointed to have to edit my previously 5 star review, but I'm not impressed with our recent service here. I've been going to The Floating Lotus over probably the last 6 years now - I have moved out of Gainesville but have family in the area and try to book an appointment when I'm in town every so often. I always book a deep tissue with Danielle (who has always been amazing), though unfortunately was not working when I could make an appointment this time. Up until today, I have had a positive experience and recommend this place as much as possible. I was in town from out of state and booked my mom and I deep tissue massages (and myself a facial) as a treat. My experience today with Jamie was very average, felt like a lot of fluff and I even fell asleep at one point while she was rubbing my feet (for what felt like an extensive amount of time) - neither of which I feel should occur during a deep tissue massage. My mom was very unsatisfied with hers - she said her masseuse Rebecca was very repetitive and focused on areas that my mom specifically asked her to avoid, and also wore gloves...? My mom ended up ending her massage early. What's worse is that that she saw this same therapist last time and had a great experience, so I had asked for my mom to have her again. My mom was initially reluctant to tell the staff up front about her experience but made it clear she was unhappy. They offered a 5% discount for the next time we come back...which won't be happening after today. I told the person at the front desk that I didn't think we should have had to pay for my mom's service at all, or at the very least have it discounted...neither of which she offered. (It eventually was discounted 10% ONLY because I had a 10% off email and had to go back in to ask to have it applied to all services rather than just my massage). It sadly seems that customer service is a thing of the past here.
I have been going to The Floating Lotus for the past couple years for deep tissue massages, and always request Danielle because she does an awesome job. I always leave feeling so much less stiff and relaxed. I moved over an hour out of town and still drive back to this spa because I've had such a good experience here. The staff is also very friendly, and I love the atmosphere and the fruit-infused alkaline water...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent to the Floating Lotus Spa in Gainesville, Fl for the first time because I was given a gift certificate as a surprise !! The atmosphere is very relaxing and pleasant and clean. My massage was wonderful! Very relaxing room, staff made me feel at ease and made sure I was enjoying my massage and that everything was comfortable and to my liking. She was amazing!!! Proceeded on to my facial. Again the room was very clean and relaxing, not quite as relaxing as the massage but guess that's kind of to be expected. Everything was explained as she did it. Only aspect of the facial that was kind of disappointing was at the end when they ran their fingers through my hair after it was over, which I feel was meant to be a kind gesture to straighten the hair from being tied up, however I left feeling like my hair felt a little dirty like maybe their was still cream or lotion on her hands, and upon further looking at my booking confirmation it said Paraffin - Hands but the receipt said anti oxidant - hands. The website talked about it being a deep heat paraffin treatment while my experience was just lotion rubbed on my arms and hands, nothing that involved heat. Overall it was a nice experience and I would definitely recommend contacting them if you are interested in a nice...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe massage therapists were very good. Big special thank you to Danell and Keith. They made our first experience comfortable and relaxing. It would have been very helpful to know, when we booked the appointment, there was an option as to what therapist (male/female) we could use. When we arrived and I told the receptionist, she made it feel a bit edgy for us and uncomfortable to request having our therapist switched. Using the same therapist just on the opposite person. We have never been there before and she was short with us. Also, there was no music in the room. Thatās an option too. The relaxing music adds a big element to the experience. For first timers, these should be asked by the staff. Knowing these things now, I will be sure to ask next time. Check out was a lot better because we had a different receptionist. I didnāt get her name but when I asked her if having the music on was an option she was patient and kind to us. Addressing the issue with sincere concern because she was the one that turned it on and was puzzled as to why it wasnāt playing. Thank you for...
