I was first introduced to hotworx in Tampa and was considering joining. I went back to New Jersey receiving emails and updates. I started to stay in Gainesville during the wi ter of 2022 , I was so excited to discover there was a location in Gainesville. I took my wife to go check it out. We was offered a complimentary workout...She joined, I enjoyed it but it wasn't something for me 3 -4 times a week. We expressed to the manager that we would be going back to New Jersey in the summer, we were told that we could put the membership on hold until we returned. This is where the problem and deception began. My wife was using the facility and enjoying it, when it was time to put the membership on hold the manager was never available. So we returned to NJ and continued to call back to Gainesville location and put the membership on hold,she was unable to make contact to get this accomplished. We came back to Gainesville in September 2022, even being here we still couldn't get any satisfaction. So we decided to cancel. During Thanksgiving we were at dinner and one of her church friends was talking about an opportunity that was presented to her, as I listened to her praise report I realized she had become the newest staff member at hotworx. I spoke to my wife afterwards, any way we still decided to cancel. Her friend was helpful and was available to assist her.,but she didn't make up the refund or cancelation policy. My wife informed me that we could cancel, but would not be out of contract for another 60 days. We finally got a real person to help us, but hotworx policy for cancelation is not fair to the customer its deceptive and based on greed. Why wouldn't it be pro rated and canceled within 5-7 business days, why hold a membership hostage for 2 months. Very disappointed & we still like the concept...
Read moreI signed up for a membership on 02-19-2025. However, I have been unsatisfied with the condition of the gym and the maintenance of the equipment. For this reason, I am requesting a cancellation and full refund of my membership per Florida Statute 559.3903.
I love (properly maintained) HOTWORX; however, this one is being thoroughly neglected. Just a little under two years ago, this establishment was in good condition and now it is repulsive. Just walking in you notice the missing panel, the worn black marks on the saunas, the countless missing buttons, sauna 7 isn’t functional, the equipment is falling apart/smells/squeaks, and the FX zone has no cleaning resources to ensure cleanliness. Having attended other HOTWORX I can tell you: this is NOT normal. I want them to revive this place because it should be an incredible health hub; however, I cannot fathom recommending it at this time.
*UPDATE: I was refunded soon after. Still one star for the poor gym condition. Beyond my HOTWORX experience elsewhere, my hubby was a gym manager at multiple other gym franchises (not HOTWORX) and he is not pleased with the management concerning the facility condition. They are all really nice there, but it should be clean/cared for too. I am hoping for a fixed facility in the near future. I told the staff member to contact me if ever they do fix it because I WANT to go to HOTWORX and this one is my only option nearby. Like I chose my apartment based on being able to walk there (Although I do LOVE my apartment too thankfully)!! I had intended to be a lifelong member so having to wait for maintenance is disappointing. I bought a sauna blanket in the meantime which obvi isn’t the same but will suffice....

They were a responsible studio who considered all the safety measures for COVID so she explained to me that the hours were adjusted due to COVID. I appreciated that. Corrective action was implemented and signage was placed on faulty equipment. I appreciate the communication and follow up after my review. First off- let me start by saying I LOVE Hotworx....so much so that when I found out they had a Gainesville location, I became a sweat anywhere member. Since I was traveling, I figured they would have towels and mats available for rent. I made sure to make an appointment during staff hours. To my disappointment, THERE WAS NO STAFF during staff hours. Nobody to help me- first disappointing thing. Next up, safety and equipment. I went to a hot cycle class in room 8. The bike closest to the door was stuck in one position. I tried everything. The middle bike handle bars were safety issues. If you stood up, you might topple over due to the bars being crazy wobbly. Can you imagine how much a failure I felt when Brittany the instructor told me to never quit, but I had to bc I was going to fall off the bike? I was going to get my child a membership here while they are studying at UF, but never mind on that. I need high quality and professionalism if I’m going to invest inHotworx.
