North Florida Regional Medical Center -Cancer Center — Attraction in Gainesville

My dad was under the care of Dr. Gordan. He would see him maybe every couple of months, and other times it was a nurse. They made him wait for over a month to get on a clinical trial even though he had an aggressive cancer. They pushed him to get chemo even though his body was weak and vitals unstable. When he was hospitalized after his second chemo treatment and eventually passed away they didn’t even bother checking in or calling. They didn’t even notice he “disappeared” for a month. Also, believe it or not but this cancer center has no social worker on staff (!) so forget about any kind of info regarding benefits, resources, care plan etc’. You have to push to get a referral to any kind of basic service like PT, nutrition or pain management (these were never offered or suggested, we had to ask for them and wait for days to get a referral) I would think twice before recommending this place to a loved one. Everything has moved so fast and my mother is a complex case, so there's been complications. I have currently waited 3 weeks for my first phone call back. FinallyGet things situated an appointment, by that afternoon, it was canceled That was on the sep 20th. As of now the 23rd, I'm still waiting for a call back from the nurses to schedule my stage 3 mother's appointment. This is so unprofessional. My mother, these elderly are not just a number. There is no empathy in compassion.When you can't even return phone calls, or it's a problem to see the doctor! I run my own company and if my customers called me and I didn't call back, I wouldn't have a job. I'm just wondering how you take care of the elderly like this.
