I went here in a Friday afternoon and was impressed by their lunch specials. They have sushi, teppanyaki which is hibachi style and bento box options. From those menus the teppanyaki caught my eye. It comes with so much food . It came with salad with option for ginger or ranch, miso or clear soup, vegetables, and your choice of protein. It is so filling. The food had great flavor and came out hot. My mom had the same as me but she got the shrimp teppanyaki and she loved it. We both had leftovers. The server was attentive and willing to explain items and their specialties to us. I really hope this place is here to stay. They have a variety of items in their menu from sushi to poke bowls as well. They have a nice bar area and a sushi area too where you can see the sushi chef at work. While we sat down we saw so many people come close to the restaurant and take a glance at the menu. I wish more people could come an enjoy this place. Everything is fresh and we had no complaints. For a $12.99 chicken lunch special offering , that can't be beat. Other restaurants charge almost twice as much. My only suggestion would be that the salad wasn't so wet and the miso soup just needed a little seasoning but nothing bad. I know they just recently opened but it is definitely worth a try .

Having lived in Japan, I have very high standards for sushi -- and Edo Sushi really delivered. I ordered the deluxe sushi entree, a chef's selection of ten pieces of nigiri and a tuna roll, and added an order of unagi and salmon roe, as well as a jalapeno roll. Everything was very good, flavorful but not overly fishy, rich and buttery and just generally what sushi should be. The cuts of fish were very generously large, and the tuna roll was stuffed -- lots of tuna, not just little pieces with lots of rice. The presentation was both elegant and a bit playful and the ambiance was modern and cool. I could imagine going to a place like this in Tokyo. The service was attentive and friendly, and the prices were good -- very like what I've paid elsewhere in Gainesville, but for better quality and quantity. Not cheap, but I'd still call it a good value. The one thing I'd tell them is that the lit up ice on the platter was lovely, but the melting ice made the rice fall apart under the nigiri, which made it tricky to eat. I will definitely go again when the opportunity arises.

We had come to this place because they had spectacular reviews and many people were raving about the food. So I unfortunately think our expectations were super super high going in. We ordered the krab wontons and they were delightful. The jalapeño roll was pretty good as well but the seaweed was a bit chewy so the pieces were a struggle to get down. The fish tastes fresh and the flavors were great though. We then got the teppanyaki dinner for an entree and it was a little disappointing. The soba noodles were super dry and not flavorful at all I felt like they were there to just take up space on the plate to make it appear bigger, so perhaps they could update that to make a different side or make the noodles better, the vegetable portion was super tiny but good, the rice was also pretty dry and not super flavorful but it was decent. Then the protein, chicken, was pretty good and there was a good amount of it. Their yum yum sauce was great so that helped with some of the lacking flavors with the rice and noodles. I did like the salad and soup that came with it too. Overall, the service was great and the restaurant itself is very nice. The food was like a 6/10, we weren’t blown away, but we could have just ordered the wrong things, it seems like they are more sushi forward.

I came to Gainesville to visit my mother, who for decades always made a face whenever someone suggested sushi. So imagine my surprise when she told me a friend just will not stop raving about this place and she wants to go. She had every intention of ordering something cooked and was brave enough to order the shrimp tempura roll, which was beautifully presented. I ordered 3 different rolls, all raw and melt in your mouth delicious. She witnessed me enjoying my sushi and before I knew what was happening she took a piece of a Philly roll and the moment she put it in her mouth you could tell she was beyond shocked at how much she enjoyed it. Now she wants to go back and get what she called "that little ship full of sushi," which you and I call a boat. LOL Knowing none of her family or friends would believe it, I had to take a photo for evidence. I can not recommend this establishment more highly. I look forward to my next visit as I've already been informed she wants to go back quite badly.

I went here for an early dinner with a couple of friends. I have nothing bad to say about the service - it was fast and courteous. The dressing on the ginger salad was great, but the miso soup was bland. My entire plate of filet and chicken teppenyaki lacked flavor. The chicken was dry and the medium-rare filet was closer to raw. Overcooked chicken and undercooked steak are telling signs of an inexperienced chef in the back of house. As for the atmosphere, there is an excess of empty space in the corner walls. The wall we were seated in front of looked overly-plain and boring which penetrated our dining experience. The prices are high, but the quality is subpar compared to the other Japanese steakhouses in town. For hibachi, I would save the time and money and go to Yamato down the road. I understand that opening a new restaurant is not easy and for that reason I will give Edo another chance in the future.

I rarely write reviews, but this restaurant is truly exceptional and deserves my highest recommendation. Food: Every dish we ordered was incredibly delicious. I am thoroughly impressed with the craftsmanship, flavors, and presentation that the chef has put into each menu item. Service: Our servers, Jea and Steven, were incredibly professional, helpful, and respectful. I appreciated how they worked together to make sure that our meal was served correctly and promptly. I was particularly impressed that our meal did not take long to be served, even though we were a large group. Armosphere: I am pleased with the overall atmosphere, interior design, and decorations. The place is well-maintained and free of unpleasant odors. My son ordered a drink Lucky Jade it was sooo good! I will definitely bring my family back and even bring friends and co workers here!
