The East End District encompases the area between 19th, and 10th Streets and Broadway and Mechanic.

Just drive through the streets here and you will see the architectural details of the historic homes, stained glass windows, welcoming porches and wrought iron fencing.

The architecture in this area is of the Greek Revival style built during the 1850's. The homes here have stood the test of time and...

This is an eclectic and lovely part of town. There are great museums and beautiful homes literally almost anywhere you look. I’ve visited Galveston four or five times before, and I always thought the sea wasn’t blue enough and the island felt a bit desolate. But coming here for the first time this summer, I was genuinely surprised. Coincidentally, it was during the Retro Car Festival, so the island was much livelier, with restaurants and shops packed with tourists. The beach still isn’t worth the trip, though. But don’t miss the Historic District near the cruise terminal! There are often weekend events—check the schedule before you go. Navigate directly to 📍 Old Galveston Square or 📍 Historic Downtown Strand Seaport Partnership. Street parking is free after 6 PM.
