This is a great museum in the courthouse. Start outside looking at the places in the circle area in front of the building. The head inside to the museum in the back. Lots of interesting Galveston photos information. And it is free. (Donation only). We are not from the area and enjoyed learning the Galveston history. Check hours. Not open every day.

Lots of history, very well laid out spent about 2 hours seeing 👀 and reading the history even has a small lunch room with vending machines that are not over priced, highly recommend 👍

Great free museum ( donations accepted). Lots of local history and amazing fossils and everything from the normal to the odd. The coverage 1900 storm is impressive.

I`ve been to the museum several times, almost every time I come to Galveston I visit it because it is so well organized and rich in Galveston history. My favorite exhibits are the 1900 storm, the corner stores, and the Balinese Room and other such places that existed way back when. Today on our visit we did the Padlock Mystery game and had a great time! The game was fun and we had time to take our time visiting each exhibit afterwards, all while being the only people in the museum. Definitely recommend...

You've got to go visit this place. Galveston has such rich history. There are many artifacts in this museum about the 1900 storm in Galveston, which is to this day the worst natural disaster in US history. The museum is going to be in a nrw building soon, possibly by January 2018. I...
