My family and I were looking for something different to do in the area (we’re Houstonians) and decided to stop by this house after seeing it on the VisitGalveston site. We were immediately welcomed stepping on the property! After paying $15 (each person) we were offered a self guided tour or complimentary tour guide. We went ahead with the tour guide which was the owner’s sister! I could immediately tell the passion she has for this renovation by the way she talked about the history. The house is currently being restored, so while that means it has some rough edges, it is also an amazing way to learn about how historical houses were constructed and how the house evolved with its various owners. The team doing the renovation is led by a pair of sisters that clearly love the house and are truly enthusiastic about welcoming people into the house and showing what they are up too. Read moreI highly recommend coming to see this restoration in progress. You can take a docent lead tour through out the entire house or walk the first and second floor by yourself and ask to be lead through the third floor and basement. Jo had a lot of interesting information about the house when I asked questions or she showed me the third floor and basement.
