My family and I were looking for something different to do in the area (we’re Houstonians) and decided to stop by this house after seeing it on the VisitGalveston site. We were immediately welcomed stepping on the property! After paying $15 (each person) we were offered a self guided tour or complimentary tour guide. We went ahead with the tour guide which was the owner’s sister! I could immediately tell the passion she has for this renovation by the way she talked about the history. She was very knowledgeable, patient, & thorough. Absolutely love that they turned it into a non-profit & keep the history, thinking about volunteering myself. Definitely a place you’d want to check out! (:

The owners are in the middle of restoration of this mansion, with the goal of bringing the home back to its original glory. Two years in, the structure is back on a stable foundation. This is a work in progress and will take a number of years to complete the project. In the meantime you can take a self guided tour of the house, if they are open. Not sure about days and times.

This Victorian Grand Mansion in Galveston Texas is undergoing a painstaking, massive and loving restoration! Please consider taking a self guided tour and adding a donation to this 501C3 project run by two sisters dedicated to refurbishing this beautiful building and it's history for many more generations to come❤️ Check out their YouTube channel@leaguekempnerhouse

Visited as part of the ghost coast festival and had a great time. The house is currently being restored, so while that means it has some rough edges, it is also an amazing way to learn about how historical houses were constructed and how the house evolved with its various owners. The team doing the renovation is led by a pair of sisters that clearly love the house and are truly enthusiastic about welcoming people into the house and showing what they are up too. Definitely worth the visit for anyone interested in...

I highly recommend coming to see this restoration in progress. You can take a docent lead tour through out the entire house or walk the first and second floor by yourself and ask to be lead through the third floor and basement. Jo had a lot of interesting information about the house when I asked questions or she showed me the third floor and basement. I can’t wait to see when it is completed after they are able to get more funding since this is a full volunteer project. Please come out and support...
