Garibaldi's Bay Market & Liquor — Attraction in Garibaldi

VERY rude new owner. My daughter is with a Church group that helps the needy. She brought an extremely nice person in dire needs there to turn cans in so she could buy food. They stood in line and when it was their turn they were told that they were two minutes too late. Even though she saw them standing in line waiting. The owner was not only rude but made the person feel like she was worthless by the comments she was making. She (the owner) then proceeded to watch the poor woman dig in the trash looking for something to eat as she was yelling at her about the hours for turning in cans. We are all in a tough situation right now and I think that showing a little compassion towards people less fortunate isn't asking too much. I USED to shop there but will no longer be. Everything was expired or empty. Deli looked like plastic and the girl behind the counter I wouldn't want touching our food. A young dark haired fellow, maybe the manager was repremanding an employee right in the front of the store. He was being "challenged " so he thought. We thought it had to be a joke but much to our dismay, it wasnt. The last few times we visited, there was a tall, friendly guy running both registers at the same time! He was amazing. We didn't see him, by the looks of things, he probably doesnt work here anymore. There was one kid hustling around, nice kid but doing all the work alone. His name was James or Josh. A great selection of actual grocery items, not just convenience store options. But also has those convenience store options are available as well. Plus you can get lottery and alcohol all in one place! Truly a one stop shop! The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because the pricing of the grocery items at least are on the high end, very high end. Which is a struggle because it’s walking distance from where I’m staying so it’s super convenient so knowing that if driving a little further I can get the same stuff for not as much makes it extremely difficult to buy the items I need here.
