I was born & raised in Central Florida around the Orlando area. I was on a swim team as a pre teen for 3 years. We had swim practice daily until Halloween before the water was very cold. My coach was an Olympic Gold Medalist so practice was rigorous. I never missed practice. As a teenager I took up riding a Yamaha three wheeler & motor cross bikes years later. During high school it was a 35 minute drive to New Smyrna & 45 minutes to Daytona Beach. At 18yo I bought a stand up Kawasaki Jet Ski & the trailer was always hooked to my car. I’d hit the lakes quite often during my lunch hour. I’d ride on the St. John’s River about 6 hours every Sunday. I never wore sunscreen & had that melanoma tan going on. Soon after moving to North Carolina I bought a townhouse in Emerald Isle. That beach was only 2 hours from my primary residence. My kids practically grew up at the beach. Now as a parent we all wore sunscreen religiously. So a large portion of my life has been in direct sunlight & most of that time I wasn’t protecting it as I should have been. I had a dermatologist in Clayton for a decade. He got too big for his britches so I fired him & switched doctors. I found Dr. William Ketchum & as a previous manager, then small business owner I felt we were a much better fit. Azalea Skin Treatment has a very personable staff & that’s an excellent sign of how any business is being operated. Dina checked me in & I had to call later in the day. She’s awesome. Yesterday I had my annual full body “mole check”. I saw the PA (Physician Assistant) Megan. She was on point. She made me feel well cared for & isn’t that what anyone in the medical field should be good at? She was extremely thorough. She asked questions, she listened to my concerns & we discussed the melanoma & skin cancer in my family history. I’m a pretty good judge on people right away. I test people to see if they’re worth being in my life. I’m rarely wrong. Megan is SMART. On top of everything, on my 2 visits I never felt rushed. I’m hoping my annual “mole check” is with Megan next year. However, I’m confident that the entire staff are good at what they do for a living. You can get a degree in pretty much anyt field having a “C” average. I don’t want those that are in the medical field giving me good care only 80% of the time. It takes a fool to pay 100% while only receiving 80% of any product or service. I’m certain that I’ve found a dermatologist or dermatology group that I’ll be with for many...
Read moreI really didn't want to give a negative review but I just can't deal with this place anymore. Upon my first visit, (which required a 6 month wait to even been seen) I didn't really have many complaints although I was surprised the dr.. sorry, PA that saw me didn't bother to take much time at all to help me understand certain spots or conditions I was hopeful to get first hand advice vs. Dr. GOOGLE's advice.. She was pleasant and sweet but didn't really feel invested in. Fast forward a year and another check up visit, same experience although this time I came a little more prepared with questions and even brought in some products I'd been using to see if they were even necessary or that she might recommend something else and she basically told me she herself was very minimal with facial skincare and she really just uses sunscreen. I was told any other questions or advice could be referred to their in-house cosmetologist, who (as someone who graduated from cosmetology school years ago) can't even legally give medical advice..?!?! Why am I paying a professional dermatologist PA to check my skin, when my own doctor can do that, if I can't even get specific skin questions answered,,, after waiting SIX months just to be seen!? ** On top of that, I called today with an urgent and worrisome skin issue that had arose over the weekend and they DO NOT take those kinds of appointments, they'll refer you to your doctor or urgent care. Something don't smell right with that..
Lastly, I wanted to add that after my last appointment, I had attemped to leave feedback provided by an email requesting it and after attempting to, the link said that basically it wasn't valid.. it was the same day I received the email, there's no way it would've expired or anything.. Again, i receive a text asking to leave feedback, wanting to voice my frustrations above, clicked it and again said I was not able to for whatever reason again! .. so with everything building up at this point I call in to let them know the issues I'm having with both email and text feedback link and I get hung up on lolol now, I'd like to think it was an accident but I KNOW they had my number on caller id.. smh didn't even bother to call back.. I came here for the good reviews but for many of the NONdetailed reviews, seems to me a...
Read moreI had a precancerous legion that popped up in early 2019. I showed it to my PCP and he suggested that I put cortisone on it. Into 2020, the area gradually spread, but in an effort to avoid COVID, I avoided the doctor’s office. In late 2021, I finally got a physical and again showed the spot to my doctor. He set up a biopsy and determined that it was precancerous. He sent me to Azalea Skin Clinic for treatment.
During my fist visit, the doctor (Nicole Lindsey) used a device to freeze the spot, provided me with care instructions, and set up a follow up appointment. During the second appointment, the doctor compared a photo taken of the spot during the first treatment with the current look. While there has been significant improvement, there is still abnormalities, so she provided a more aggressive topical medication and scheduled a follow up for a month from now.
The legion is on a delicate part of my body where skin cancers are normally not found. The doctor and staff have been very respectful in handling what could otherwise be an embarrassing situation. I very much appreciate their professionalism and competence in treating me.
Follow-up: The spot has since completely healed, but I had several warts on my feet and showed them to my caregiver. It took several months of treatment, but my feet are now clean and wart free. I’m very much appreciative of the staff if Azalea Skin Clinic for their care.
Follow-up 2: I have started going to Nicole annually for a skin check. I disrobe and she and an assistant carefully examine my skin searching for any potential issues. I very much appreciate her attention to detail and for helping to ensure my skin is healthy.
I highly recommend Azalea Skin Clinic and specifically...
