Garner Recreational Park — Attraction in Garner

Two large baseball tournaments playing a modified round robin format were being played at the same time. The playing surface was dirt infield, grass out field. The fields were satisfactory for this level of play. Two problems: (1) the available parking was insufficient for the teams playing and waiting to play; (2) on Field #1, about a third of the lights for night play did not work. Considering the schedule lead time, the Town of Garner should have solved the lighting outage. Concession stand was good. Wheelchair accessible until you enter the playground. Fenced in playground in dorect sunlight makes this place perfect for winter fun. It does get warm in the afternoon sun. However, no public restrooms close by. Keep that in mind. There are 0 picnic areas but there are trash cans and 2 park benches for resting. The playground is enclosed and gate is childproof so it is great for toddler moms unless someone leaves the gate ajar. Just across the way is the best coffee shop in all of Garner called Full Bloom Coffee and the smell of roasting floats over to the playground. Men came through to clean up the trash and didn't do a good job at it,left trash on the ground by the Senior Citizen facility and the trash cans was stinking and picnic tables was nasty and the ground was full of trash around the tables and flies ,yellow jacks ,, so bad that you could not eat.Nasty place and I will not be caring my granddaughters there any more.
