Do not use these guys; they are highly unethical. They do not advertise this, but they will not do any work on the sealed system of refrigerators. This includes the compressor, evaporator, drier, heat exchange parts, condenser, or any connective tubing (basically half of the fridge). This, by itself, is not a problem, but they fail to mention it until after they have sent a repair tech out to look at your fridge for 5 minutes, only to tell you it is the compressor and then charge you a $100 - $150 diagnostic fee. And all of this after you tell the customer service rep who you scheduled the appointment with that you think it is the compressor; we had this same issue two years ago and replaced the compressor.
After all this, I followed up with the office and asked why I was not told that they would not fix it if it was the compressor before they sent someone out and charged me. Their response was, "If we told all our customers that, we would go out of business" – seriously, two company members gave me this response, one of them a manager. Newsflash: if concealing pertinent information about your company's services is essential for you to stay in business, you are doing something wrong.
I have no clue how Mr. Appliance is when fixing an issue that they will work on or with other appliances. But any company that conceals information from customers to make money should not stay in business. Use another appliance repair shop; there are much...
Read moreDO NOT USE!! Bought a brand new Maytag top load washer October 2023. Stopped working 4 days after the one year warranty expired. Called Mr. Appliance in Gastonia, tech was out here 4 times, replaced various parts on my washing machine - none of which worked and the new parts were uninstalled and the old parts reinstalled. Thankfully, they refunded everything but the service call fee and said there wasn't anything else they could do. I then called Maytag, who scheduled service with a different company - but upon arrival their tech was unable to remove the rotor bolt (one of the parts that was uninstalled and reinstalled). Said the rotor bolt was slightly stripped, tried a couple of different ways to get it off - but "would have to cut off rotor to get to issue and would possibly need new transmission". Called Mr. Appliance to have them come take the rotor bolt off and they REFUSED. Not that they wouldn't do it TODAY - just refused outright to come out and remove it. So now I'm out a $116 service call fee (plus tax) for Mr. Gastonia, and another $129 plus tax service call fee from the tech Maytag sent out, haven't been able to use my washer for almost 3 weeks - and still have NO IDEA what is wrong with a washing machine that's barely a month...
Read moreI called Mr. Appliance of Gastonia and spoke with a very pleasant guy named John who answered the phone. He asked a few questions and scheduled a service call for the next day. Their technician, named Dale, arrived on-time and immediately diagnosed the problem. He told me the initial diagnostic trip charge of $99.00 was waived once I agreed to the quoted repair price of $400 (parts & labor). The part was ordered on Thursday and Dale came back out the following Monday morning to replace it and run some tests to ensure the dishwasher was fully functional after the repair. I tried other local appliance repair businesses but most of them wanted to charge an $89 trip charge PLUS additional labor charges for any repair. Mr. Appliance seemed to be the only contractor who would waive the trip charge and apply it towards the overall repair cost. Fortunately, Dale mentioned that the same owners will be opening more Mr. Appliance franchises in the Charlotte & Spartanburg areas which means additional people can benefit from an excellent appliance...
