Unfortunately, I was deceived by someone who is a parishioner of this church. I am an Orthodox Christian and recently moved to Texas. Unfortunately, for the first time in the United States, I became a victim of deception — and the person who deceived me was a parishioner of this church. Vladimir, who also goes by Vlad and lives in Georgetown, deceived me out of money. He presented himself as a believer who lives according to the commandments and attends this church. All I did was suggest that he donate to his own church the money he had deceived me out of. Vladimir (Vlad) accused me of imaginary things and said he had blocked me. He is not willing to return money gained through deception — not even for the benefit of his own church. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Father Moses, because I initially turned to him with a request to help arrange a meeting with this person to resolve the situation. Unfortunately, Father Moses does not know what is going on in the mind of his parishioner. In the end, I was refused a meeting and was blocked. It is sad that even among sincere believers there are those who are not above lying and deceiving others. But thanks to this dishonest man, I saw the Orthodox Church from another side. Father Moses made a strong impression on me as an extraordinary priest who promotes Orthodoxy in a modern and...
Read moreIf you are curious to see what the early church looked like, before the New Testament Bible was even written, please join us for Divine Liturgy every Sunday morning at 9:30am. We also have Vigil at 6pm every Saturday evening.
We’ve been coming to this church for almost 2 years. My family and I moved around over the last 10 years and I have attended different Orthodox Churches, but when we came here, we felt like we were home. With all of the upheaval in the world over the past couple of years, it’s important for us to be where the truth is being preached and the Spirit of God can be seen and felt. The church welcomes people of all backgrounds. The church is comprised of American converts, American cradle Orthodox and Slavic Orthodox people, as well as people of various ethnic backgrounds. We also have a lot of young families with children, as well as older families. Every Sunday after Liturgy, we fellowship and share a meal. All are welcome to stay. It is inspiring to see how the priest, Father Moses, loves God and loves his flock, and he is always available if you need to talk. Even if you’ve never been to an Orthodox Church, you are welcome to join us.
We will have the myrrh streaming Kursk Icon visiting us on September 30th, please come to venerate this jewel of the...
Read moreMy family has been attending Holy Mother Of God for 2 years now and were both baptized and married here. Trust me when I say, this is the kind of church you stay at forever. Father Moses has been so incredibly attentive to our needs, so generous with his time and counsel. He is loving enough to tell people what they need to hear, even if it makes him unpopular. The community here is amazing, from throwing every mom a baby shower, to making sure there is a meal every week after services. This is a place where you can truly grow and practice the Orthodox faith with likeminded people who genuinely love others! There is a lot I dislike about living in Texas; the heat, allergies, bugs, etc, but this church makes me never want to leave. The people here are like a big family, so much so that It’s not uncommon to see parents holding/communing other people’s kids during the services. We have fun together, we fast together, we labor together, and we feast together. If you want to save your soul, this is the place...
