Usually prefer Sephora over Ulta and it’s reasons like yesterday and today why. Earlier this week I went on Ulta’s site to buy It Cosmetics CC cream in 2 shades for my mom for Mother’s Day and her birthday. When I went to checkout I saw that they were giving a free gift with this purchase. It was a free gift if you spend a minimum of $50 and it included 4 sample size products from It cosmetics. The only caveat is that my order wouldn’t arrive until the Wednesday after Mother’s Day and my mom’s birthday, so I had no choice but to go in store. For context, I want to add that I originally tried online because I’m disabled and it’s very difficult, painful, and draining to get in a car, travel, stand, and pretty much do anything an average person can do without feeling any agonizing pain. So my brother drove me to Ulta yesterday and I had hoped that maybe they would still have that same gift with purchase, but if they didn’t, it was in no way a big deal. So I go to the It Cosmetics counter, get what I need and then I’m approached by a lovely associate who proceeds to tell me that we should wait and come back tomorrow because they will be doing a gift with purchase. I was ecstatic! I told her about the one online and she said/insisted that these in store gifts are way better than what’s being offered online. She explained that if you spend $75 you will get a small gift with a few products, but if you spend $100 you get that gift plus another gift that’s even better. Now I knew the gifts were from It Cosmetics and my mom loves their products so again, I was ecstatic. But I was under the impression that as long as you purchased something from IT in that $75 or $100 total, you would get the gifts. Nothing else was ever clarified to me of the criteria except how much you had to spend. Anyway, I couldn’t be happier at this moment, even though it meant we were going to have to make another trip and again, I am a disabled person so any time I go out it is a tall order, but at the time I thought it was worth it, especially when it comes to something for my mom. Which leads me to today. My brother and I once again drive to Ulta, arrive when they open so we can be in and out and I can go home and rest. I go in, get the CC cream, and then grab a $27 Tarte lip gloss I know my mom loves so I’m at/ well over the $100 minimum. Then we also decide to buy 2 Natasha Denona eyeshadow palettes making a grand total of $260 spent. I go to checkout, the transaction is finished, and the woman tries to send me on my way. I proceed to tell her about the gift with purchase and she seemed to not have a clue what I was referring to. It was when they just opened so I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt that maybe not all employees knew about the deal going on. So I was sent over to the manager, the associate I spoke to yesterday and again today (where she had multiple opportunities to be very clear what the deal was) and the It Cosmetics gift bar counter. They hand me what I think is a sorry excuse for an “amazing” gift with purchase. It’s a cheap, plastic makeup bag with a sample of It cosmetics mascara, a sample of confidence in a cream, a few packets of other skin product samples, and to top it all off, a small sample of a CeraVe facial cleanser. I’m sure my face couldn’t hide my disappointment but once again, they tried to send me on my way. I asked about the other gift and they said that’s only for spending $100 on exclusively It products. I immediately felt rage. The entire reason I threw in the $27 tarte lip gloss was to get to the $100 and get this mysterious and amazing free gift. Also the majority of what I spent money on was It products. I told them that and they gave me a pretty careless apology and their only attempt to remedy the situation was to offer ME to BUY MORE It cosmetics items! At that point I was furious and left. Also my mom has been fighting cancer since 2020 and I was excited to spoil her rotten the way she should be which is why the idea of getting these gifts was so exciting. Ultimately, what a...
Read moreThis was the worst salon experience I've ever had!!! I went in during the fall asking for a specific look. After 3 appointments they were not able to achieve it. I brought lots of pictures of long deep red hair with very slight blond highlights. A definite trend, not asking for the moon here. The first time it was done I got brown hair with a slightly red tint and chunky bleach blond hightlights. I got home and my bf said "I thought you were going to dye your hair red, you got 90's highlights." Called back and the manager said she'd fix it. I get in the seat, tell her what I want and she goes to work. Somehow she translated my pictures and request into my asking for bright red chunky highlights! I'm sitting in the chair, she's brushing the dye in a few spots and I'm like, "What're you doing?!" After she realizes her mistake and "fixes it" I now have confetti hair of bright red and bleach blond highlights in my brown hair! I go back a third time, the manager is extremely rude at this point tells me she doesn't know what I want. I asked her how she could not know what I want when I'm showing her a picture?! She then proceeds to tell me, that she and the other stylist didn't do what I asked for, in the first place, because they would have to bleach all of my hair first and that would take a long time and cost me money. I told both of them before my appointments, over the phone and in person, what I wanted and that money was not an issue- just give me an estimate and let me know if you're capable of doing it correctly. When I remind her of this, she tells me she doesn't want to do my hair again, because she's not sure she can achieve the look I want and it could damage my hair after dying it 3 times and bleaching. No kidding, I rarely dye it as it is, because I don't want damage. In the end I ask for my money back and she only refunds me for the dyeing process, still charges me for the cut and style, blow dry, brow wax etc. After driving there 3 times and wasting my time because you were too lazy and dishonest to either do what I was asking, or tell me from the get-go that you "expert colorists" are too incompetent to accomplish the look I wanted, you're only going to refund the dye?! THIS PLACE IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS, AWFUL AND UNPROFESSIONAL! DO NOT EVER GO TO THEIR SALON. NO MATTER HOW CONVENIENT IT MIGHT BE OR HOW MUCH MONEY YOU MIGHT SAVE!!! SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME AND GO SOMEWHERE HONEST AND PROFESSIONAL. I wish I could take back the generous tips I left both of those...
Read moreI don’t usually shop at this store because it’s not the one closest to me. But, my boyfriend and I have been in the area all day so we stopped in. I was looking for a couple items specifically and it’s a larger store than what i’m used to. the whole time we were there, the staff was attentive and super nice. Later in the evening there were a couple items i really wanted and placed as a pick up to grab on our way home. I didn’t realize I needed my ID so my boyfriend went in to get the order & was told he needed to bring my ID inside. I went in, explained i didn’t have it on me but had the email. One of the girls at the desk laughed and questioned why i didn’t have my ID… i don’t think i need to explain that i wasn’t driving… she said i could use my debit card or a photo of an ID. i brought out my card and they said the manager would make the final call. The manager said id have to use an ID verifying app.. which requires you to have the ID to scan and verify. So i said nevermind, i’ll come a different day. Getting in the car I realized i actually did have my keys (and ID) but i was nervous to go back in seems how the staff came off very bothered i didn’t have it to begin with. since originally the associate told my boyfriend he needed my ID, he offered to go in. he came back saying the manager on site was rude claiming i “sent him back in” and if there was a problem with the order i couldn’t return it. usually, they open the bag and verify the items. he was aware what i purchased and could have done so if given the chance. A simple human mistake of forgetting an ID or remembering you actually do have it, shouldn’t be a shameful matter. The entire reason he went in instead of me was because i’d rather avoid being spoken to that way. i was laughed at and then he was treated poorly as well. there are plenty other ultas who will treat their customers right,...
