Today I had my most distasteful and disgusting experience in any eatery. After church our family drove from Queen Creek to Gilbert just to eat at NYPD in San Tan Village.
Although we live half hour away we decided to have lunch for my family at this site. Being from NY and the claim that it’s made with NY water has attracted us to the place. Even though we had once experienced a reheated pie (even though they made us wait for it too). We shrugged it off that we just arrived when they opened and they probably wanted to unload their last pie from the previous night to the next customers and we happened to draw the unlucky straw (although that in and of itself is not right). Regardless we chose to overlook and return and give them business.
Until this Sunday (8/24/25). We ordered a pie over the phone. They told us to pick it up in half hour (perfect as it takes about that much to drive from Queen Creek) . When I arrived I paid for it with a coupon and left with the pie given to me. Upon arriving home with the pie, I opened it just to find the pizza pie was not only reheated (as you can tell by its color and texture) it was pieced together with various pieces. One of which was obvious was just stuck in there as it did not complete the pie weather you attached it to the center cut or to the top of the crust.
I decided to drive back another hour back and forth to bring the pie to the manager and ask if he saw anything wrong with the pie? To my amazement, the manager never let me finish when he himself said we don't do what you are suggesting we don't reheat and stick in slices into pies. He proceeded to take apart the pie to reassemble it and then squeeze the slices together to say look how they fit. They still were not and I told him so. At which time he offered another remake but I told him I just wanted my money back. As he went to the register he continued to say to take his word for it but I told him, this is what you say but this is what I see. He then in a very nasty tone said, well if you don't believe me I can return your money. I responded that is exactly what we are doing now. He then finalized on the register and handed me my refund. When I told him money was missing. He said that is what you paid for it. I said yes, but I gave you a coupon with this, can I get my coupon back? He asked me are you planning to use this coupon here again. I said no, he then said, then I will not give it back to you and walked away with the coupon and the pie. Never once apologizing for any inconvenience or ANYHING. He was nasty, dismissive and defensive throughout the entire exchange. The manager's action now makes me think if they are capable of giving customers substandard food, they just may be capable of claiming false claims to IRS. Saying that they provided a coupon when in fact they didn't.
Oh, and by the way ,this place is definitely not for their customers they did not even offer the Sunday special when I called to order the pie. Where you get two for one on Sundays (something I learned upon arriving ). Perhaps had I had two and one was bad I would have said well we only paid for one anyway.
Maybe NYPD should stand...
Read moreNYPD Pizza is a good choice for NY style thin crust pizza in Gilbert. We especially like the white pie, Pizza Blanca, with olive oil, crushed garlic, ricotta, and mozzarella. They also give you a choice of one extra topping to put on that pie. They recommend fresh spinach or Roma tomatoes, but we go the extra mile and add an extra topping, and do the spinach and bacon. Delicious! My wife and daughters love the Soho pizza salad. It’s a pizza with salad on top. They call the crust a pizza crisp and it’s baked with garlic, spices and mozzarella. Then they put a salad on top of it with greens, bruschetta, almonds, feta, asiago cheese and their special house and ranch dressing mix. We also like their lunch combos that we feel are fairly priced with choices like pizza slices, salad, and wings.

My guide on how I use the 5 star system: ⭐️ = Not good ⭐️⭐️ = Not terrible, but would not get again ⭐️⭐️⭐️ = Solid, but I’d try something else before this again ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ = Really liked it! You should try this ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ = Loved it! Must try I’ll make adjustments to my ratings after subsequent visits. If you see a .3 or .7 it means: .3 = Wasn’t as good the 2nd or last time I tried it .7 = This was better the 2nd or last...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars I would. Earlier this year the Market street location in Gilbert failed to deliver our order as the person who took the order marked it as pick up. When I asked to speak to the manager, Noah the manager got on the phone and suggested I come and pick up my now cold pizza. I told him I ordered delivery for a reason and he said he would remake the pizza, I could wait for an additional hour for it to arrive and would still be charged the delivery fee.
Based on that experience we decided to try other local options.
After a few months we decided to give them an other try because they started partnering with DoorDash who I have always received great service from. Tonight my order arrived and was partially incorrect so I called the restaurant. The young man I originally spoke to was apologetic and offered to get the manager on the phone whose name is Noah. My first thought was oh great, here we go again. Noah again offered to let me come pick up my now cold pizza or wait another hour for a fresh pizza to be delivered. In addition, he took no accountability and placed the blame on DoorDash.
Clearly this location and the manager are incompetent and have no sense of customer service and no business managing...
