If I could give this place negative stars I would.
They sold my fiancé an engagement ring with a faulty setting and the center stone fell out within 24 hours of wearing it. The prong broke off and nothing even happened to the ring. Mind you I’m 10 weeks pregnant so I’ve pretty much been on bed rest and I didn’t even as much as knock the ring on the bathroom counter or snag it on a piece of clothing. Nothing happened whatsoever - poor craftsmanship or a manufacturing defect caused this to happen. We went in to try and come to a resolution and they insisted that the only way this could have happened was with intense blunt or strong force. They wouldn’t work with us at all other than an option to buy another Diamond at a “discounted” price and have them repair the band. Why on earth would we still want this band and why would we trust them to make it properly the second time? I’ve worn real diamond rings, I’ve worn costume jewelry and pretty much everything in between and for years on end and never have I seen anything like this happen, let alone in 24 hours of wearing something.
As much as I realize it’s our word against theirs in terms of what happened, we instead asked for a refund of just the band then and they wouldnt even refund that! They said the ring was damaged and against their return policy! Lol!! Well yes, it is damaged! Because of the way it was crafted and this would have been a decent compromise but nope, so we are just out thousands of dollars and have absolutely nothing to show for it except a busted ring band.
This is absolutely TERRIBLE business. Defects happen from time to time and the fact that this happened within 24 hours and they won’t take ANY responsibility for it is just shameful...
Read moreMy family has been loyal patrons of this jewelry store for over a decade, and I’ve always valued their craftsmanship. In February, I had a repair done, and one of the new prongs broke within a couple of months. When I took it into the store today, I was met with a stream of excuses — for example, “gold is soft” — and I was very frustrated. After a deeper conversation with Cheryl, I came to understand that the issue was due to normal wear and tear, which I was completely willing to accept.
After that, I needed help replacing a lost earring back. I frequently lose earring backs and have replaced them here before, so I know the cost is roughly $60 for two — about $30 each. Today I was quoted the price of one for two, and when I questioned it, I was met with even more excuses about how the price of gold had gone up —
All feelings aside, today, this business had a chance to take a small financial hit. And when I say small, I mean a tiny cost they wouldn’t have even noticed. But instead, they chose to double‑charge for a tiny piece of gold, an earring backing....
In that moment, it was clear that $30 meant more to them than a long‑standing customer and all of my future purchases.
After the ring situation, I was still willing to go back and continue buying from them. But after the earring backing situation, I knew this was a matter of pride and ego.
I paid for my $60 dollar earring back, and left with no intention of ever returning.
It cost them a customer. I will be taking my business elsewhere, and I suggest you...
Read moreBuyers beware. Please don’t waste your time or money at Walt’s Jewelers. My husband picked out a beautiful ring for me for our engagement in 2015. After a few months of wearing it, I felt the center stone coming loose. I took it back in to have it fixed and cleaned, only to have a very rude employee “steam” it and return it to me. Not much longer later, my center stone fell out! Luckily I found it, and had it fixed. Or so I thought. I noticed again, several months later the stone was crooked and I was concerned it was going to fall out again. Took it back in and was told basically, in a nut shell, because I chose a quote on quote “dainty” ring, wear and tear will cause it not last long... the owner “informed” me about how wear and tear works and what was “expected.” My only option was to pay more and have additional prongs added to my ring. (Regardless of the fact that it was not properly installed in the first place.) I took my ring into other shops to get a second and even third opinion; they were able to give me not only better, clear information (that were not lies and simply trying to get more money out of me) but more acceptable options. Long story short, this jeweler will not stand behind their mistakes and products. And as you can see from the responses on their 1 star reviews, is full...
