Kansas City Car Stereo — Attraction in Gladstone

I needed a new stereo unit and speakers for my old 1991 Toyota Camry. It still had all of the original equipment in the car. I stopped at Max Speed & Sound one day and talked with Chuck. He was very helpful in explaining what I needed and he gave me many options to choose from to fit my budget and expectations (or my picky nature to be honest lol).

Chuck was very fair with pricing and I really appreciated that he wasn't trying to bleed every cent out of me like some stereo dealers.

I returned with my car to finally get my new stereo and speakers. I felt bad for the poor installer who had to take out all of the old stuff! It was in horrible shape and even had to be sawed out in some places! They did fantastic, clean, concise work. I never knew they'd been in my car! I've had occasions where I've had bits and pieces of wire and plastic all over after a company installed stereos and/or speakers. So it was nice to get my car back in great condition.

Unfortunately Camrys back then were not made for good sound because of the location and size of the speakers. So when this new stereo was installed, the sound just didn't satisfy me. I called to reschedule a time to bring my car back in and see what else might be available to make my sound better. Again, Chuck talked about my options and I opted to add a subwoofer and amp. He worked out a great deal to help get my sound to satisfaction.

I returned for another appointment and, again, felt sorry for the installer for all he had to go through to get it all installed! My car is NOT easy to work with! He did an amazing job and took the time to add an extra bass knob under the stereo unit so I could control the bass separately from the stereo. It was just best for my set up. Once again, he did a fantastic job on it all and had it all cleaned up and ready for me.

Each time they completed an installation, Chuck took the time to sit in the car with me and show me the ropes of my new equipment. I asked him a billion questions and he patiently answered.

I have been totally and completely satisfied! I've been riding all over town enjoying the heck out of my whole system! If you looked at me, I'm just a regular caucasian gal but LOVE R&B and some Rap. My car BOOMS! Haha! I will definitely return to Max Speed & Sound in the future and refer friends and family there as well.

So I have now taken my third vehicle to max speed and sound. The first vehicle everything went smooth, second vehicle they hooked up my climate controls after installing a new head unit and my air conditioner stopped working the day after. I decided I would pay for it out of pocket and maybe that it was a fluke, but I’m thinking this is what they normally do. This is now my third vehicle and it is the worst service I’ve ever had. They broke the clip to my open my hood and tried to blame me for it and decided to put a piece of paper and a paper clip under it? We picked up the vehicle thinking that everything was done and good to go at this time did not notice the hood until today ( a week later).” After we picked up the vehicle after getting subwoofer amp and radio hooked up, the radio was not even working on the way home. I was told by one of the employees that it was shutting off as they were working on it and I simply stated why didn’t you say something to me during installation? And I had no answer. I stated I definitely would’ve bought a new one if that was happening I want everything to work inde u pay for it. Come to find out the owner verified it was a wiring issue and the head unit was just fine. I told them that I have a piece right above the radio now that’s not attached and it looks very unprofessional just hanging by itself and they said i brought it to them like that. You would think after not having a working radio they would stop lying at this point but I have a video showing that everything was intact prior to bringing them the vehicle and nothing was loose. If you want quality service and honest people I would not recommend coming here. Even after the air conditioner issue, I came back thinking they would do a better job maybe. They will blame you for things that clearly was their fault and the fact that we have proof of this and they still tried denying things is baffling. Went through CraigsList to have a guy install a 4 channel amp installed from a factory head unit through an EQ & LOC. I was trying to save $100 from shop cost. He didn't ground my amp properly & it blew along with my EQ. I learned my lesson there. Luckily I was able to return the amp & EQ for refund online. Needless to say I felt burnt. So I looked up the local car audio stores online for a proper install. Max Speed & Sound had the best reviews so I decided to go there. One of the best decisions I ever made! From the beginning phone call to make an appointment I was treated very well. Made the appointment & prepared to pay a bunch more for a proper amp install. They cleaned up the other guy's wire run mess, made a proper ground & wired it properly through the LOC & EQ & charged me half of what the CraigsList guy did. I was super impressed & I felt as good about this experience as I had felt bad about being burned through the CG guy. Chatted with Chuck when I checked out & he has some real passion for hi-fi audio. My amp was installed properly by his team (who was also nice & let me know what the other guy had done originally & what they fixed), he saved me a bunch of money & let me know other ways to improve the system down the road & even called around & got quotes on electronics which were as cheap as I could find them online. I will definitely be coming here for all my car audio needs as well as referring them to friends. Def a 10/10 experience & the customer service was above & beyond...
