This is supposed to be a church-based thrift store but in reality its an overpriced, judgment-filled, vintage boutique store.
The workers will follow you around the store glaring at you and leaving you questioning why everyone there seems to hate you.
I asked one girl if she knew if they ever got in a type of shoe I was looking for and she literally just made eye contact with me, scoffed while she muttered "NO" and walked to the back of the store. I waited around a while to observe and it would seem that unless you are a well-dressed, affluent, white senior citizen you will be treated lesser than.
Now to add to the almost aggressive judgment from the workers is the unbelievable prices that should make this not even be allowed to be called a thrift store. A ripped, coffee-stained Costco tshirt was $9.99 2 SMALL terra cotta pots that were filthy and literally full of spiders were $19.99!!! A set of 2 old, stained, used towels were $19.99 but the real kicker?? An no-brand, old leather jacket, ripped and absolutely reeking of smoke for $139.99!!! This store obviously is using ebay as a price source and that should tell you how ridiculous their pricing will be.... OH!! and in the exact same style as the Greed-will down the street from them? They have color tag "sales" but pull nearly all the color tags that are on sale so you cant even find anything on discount... It's absolutely wild that these people pretend to represent God and a church. Jesus would never charge $139.99 for his old musty, crusty jacket so AT LEAST have the decency to call yourselves what you really are; an over-priced vintage boutique!!!! Come one, come all to be judged by rich, white...
Read moreUPDATE: I’m not sure when New Unto Others raised their prices even more, but I’ve been to vintage stores that aren’t as expensive as them. When I can find the same items online for cheaper on Etsy or a similar site, you know you have a problem. They seem to take anything that they think might be worth something and mark it up. While I was there I saw a stained sweatshirt for $45 and a Levi’s jacket that was vintage for $70, which is more than I paid for mine at retail price.
I’m so disappointed in the greed this store exhibits and im genuinely sad that one of my favorite stores isn’t good anymore.
OLD REVIEW: New Unto Others used to be my favorite thrift store. Key word being used to. However, as time has gone on, their prices have gone up while their selection has gone down. Often times, their "collectibles" are far overpriced. You can still get the occasional gem, but expect to pay at least the same amount as you pay in a vintage store. Their furniture is probably the worst violation of being overpriced, but at least they have decent furniture occasionally. I don't think I've ever found a single clothing item here.
Overall, I would stop in if you don't mind paying a lot more for thrift. But if you're trying to find deals on the cheap, this is probably not the...
Read moreI do a lot of shopping at Thrift Stores, and, this particular one is the cleanest & most organized of the six that I visit on a regular basis. While average in size compared to other Thrift Stores, it is well stocked, and the inventory seems to move relatively quickly. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Their prices seem to be inline with what other stores of this type charge - with some items being cheaper than found in other stores and some being a bit higher than found in other stores. The condition of the items they offer tend to be better than those found in other Thrift Stores. Most Thrift Stores have closed their restrooms to the public, but, this store's restrooms are available, and, they are definitely the cleanest and well maintained ones have ever been in. They are even cleaner and more well maintained than a lot of restrooms I find at many restaurants. Unlike many that offer a 'Senior Discount' one day a week, their 'Senior Discount' is available everyday. I have never had an issue with any item I purchased from them, and, I would highly recommend them to anyone who enjoys Thrift Store shopping or is looking for good quality used...
