EDIT: * HOTEL DECIDED TO CHARGE ADDITIONAL 150$ FOR NO REASON. We checked our account and noticed an erroneous charge for 150$. We called the hotel and they couldn't tell us why they charged an ADDITIONAL 150$**
If I could give 0 stars I would. This place does not have enough stars to be serving white snobby people. I stayed here this evening and it has been one problem after the other. We were here for an overnight vacation and checked in 2 hours early. They stated they were dog friendly and when my friend booked over the phone, she told them we would be bringing our dog. They said cool. We get there, they charge us 75$ as a dog tax for "sanitization purposes". Okay you didn't tell us before hand when we called. Whatever. They tell us, if we leave him at the hotel, he needs to be in a kennel if he's not going with us. This was not a problem because as good dog owners we brought one, however they had not told us before. If we hadn't brought one, we would have been up shit Creek. We also asked for extra pillows, because you know, hotel pillows. We were denied because last week, adolescence visiting for spring break stole so many pillows they had none to spare for each room. The distressing part was there was a brown smear on one of the pillows we had with our room. All the amenities are closed by 5pm daily. Pool, gym, ECT, closed by 5 pm. CHECK IN is at 4PM. 4PM. so you only have an hour to use amenities especially if you are only staying overnight. The shower curtains are cloth curtains and barely overlap the tub, so expect water everywhere, and their body bath towels are not much larger than their hand towels. Now I understand, the clientele that visit the hotel, are not the hotel's responsibility, but good Lord, there were so many white geriatric boomer Karens and Kevins, it made my head spin. (I am white as bread myself) While we were out, my dog was pleasant and quiet. We were gone for about 6 hours. When we sat down for dinner, we received a call there had been a complaint about my dog's barking by 1 individual. 1. We were warned if they requested a room change, we would be charged an ADDITIONAL 75$. We asked them to call us back if someone else made a complaint and cut our dinner plans short. When we came back, the hotel was silent as a church, all except for the Karen, complaining to the front attendant, wanting a room change because, and I quote, "the water machine was making too much noise". I believe they may have been our culprit in making a ridiculous complaint, because even trudging up to our room on crutches, our dog didn't make a sound until we opened the door and called his name, and even then, he still didn't bark. I even filmed it for posterity's sake. The amount of entitlement exhibited was ridiculous. The last straw was the morning of our departure. The hotel provides free international breakfast for guests. Me, my friend, and our dog went down to eat before leaving. I sat at the table while my friend gathered our meal because to mention again, I am currently using crutches. My dog did not enter the food area, and remained beside me. We ate our meal, and my friend went upstairs to get our luggage. My dog remained with me so I could bring him outside. He is well mannered enough, that someone ON CRUTCHES can walk him safely without pulling, lunging, or needed to over correct him. The most conservative snowflake boomer geriatric Karen Kevin couple walk past and Kevin remarks "There's A dog in here. I didn't think they were allowed IN HERE.", and then 10 ft high hair Karen turns her nose up at my dog saying "gross". Sir your wife is in here and you didn't think they let dogs in? The HIGHLIGHTS were honestly house staff. The custodian with a beard and beanie (at least I think), was nice to our pup and gave him Lovings and house keeping was really nice as well. However, me and my friend both agree we will not be returning to this hotel if we come back to Wichita. There is a reason it is 2.5 stars. If not for the hotel and its practice itself, the company it keeps will definitely...

Because the Hampton at the airport is rundown, we decided to give Goddard a try. First thing I asked for was a "QUIET" room and was assured that they were giving me one at the end of the hallway - which wasn't true. They gave us a room on the second floor, in the middle, that has a view of the waterpark building - more on this later. (I determined later that the clerk had pre-assigned rooms for guests and was not willing to be accommodating or flexible to guests requests.) .
The room had a Amana through the wall Heating/Air Conditioner unit, which is something that I would never purchase - not even for my worst enemy. When this junk cycles on, you won't be able to hear the television and will have to bump the volume up to a 13 or 14 from an 8 - it's that noisy. At night, you freeze or sweat - plus it is noisy - it's that bad. (Older Amana's have that annoying metallic rattle every time the fan comes on!) .
If you're unfortunate to have a window view of the waterpark, you will have an echo affect of sound. In addition, you will hear the water parks equipment cycling on and off through out the night. You will also hear other rooms Amana units cycling on and off. .
In addition, because of the security door on the second floor, you will hear it open and close every time someone comes in from the elevators or from the water park. Plus, you will hear peoples room doors open and close - Hampton really needs to oil the hinges. (Kids running in the rooms. Kids hitting the thin walls. Kids yelling - all the normal stuff kids do at water themed locations... Again, not an enjoyable experience. You don't want to stay here even if the park is closed for the holiday. Avoid the 2nd floor!) .
Talking to the manager, or the person who claims to be the manager, is not helpful. Don't take my word, read other negative reviews and see if promises were kept, because I can assure you, they won't be kept! .
Again, if you have kids, then this place is for you and you will think it is great. If you're a business traveler and have to get rest for a long drive, then avoid this place like the plague. (FYI: The water park was closed when I was there and can assure you, the rooms are noisy for the reasons described. If you do a lot of traveling, then this place will be like other places - nothing to brag about and noisy. Give it a few years and it will be rundown like other motels!) .
The Hampton at the airport had broken phones and a Amana unit that cycled the air-conditioner in the middle of winter. It was run down and the owners have not been keeping the place up. My next visit will be there and not at the Hampton Goddard. (I just don't see any advantage at staying in Goddard over the Airport location!) .
Quality of the beds were okay at Hampton Goddard. The pillows were lousy - like balloons - not like typical Hampton pillows. I wasn't wild about the "Communal Pump Dispensers" for lotion, shampoo, body-wash or conditioner and would recommend that you bring your own for hygienic/safety reasons - my spouse is a scientist and worked for a major company that makes that stuff - over time, the preservatives in the products breakdown and bacteria starts growing. Plus, you don't know what previous guests may have done. Breakfasts - nothing to brag about but a bit better than the Wichita Hampton Airport location. Coffee was hit or miss - they really need to use a measuring spoon and bump up the strength. .
Don't expect to have problems resolved, the staff are paid to be friendly, not to solve problems - again, read the reviews and see if other peoples issues were resolved. Remember to leave a tip for the cleaning people - even if you have a bad experience. .
If you experience a problem, tell them about it and then write up a fair review as I have done - This should have been dealt with at check-in - not after I'm 900 miles...
Read moreWe stayed here passing through, the hotel is new and had minor issues with common new opening stuff. Hotel was very nice and decor was pretty. Room was extra roomy and comfortable, air conditioning worked great. Sheets and pillows didn’t seem like the normal Hampton pillows, sheets were super rough and not comfortable but I think it was because they were new and haven’t had many washes yet to soften them out. Bathroom was nice my biggest disappoint was the bathtub. I’m extremely surprised a new property still puts bathtubs in the bathroom. I know many people like a bathtub but I personally find them annoying and a walk in shower is way more convenient while traveling. The toilet looked like the house keepers have not used a toilet brush since opening just had a ring around it. I know the hotel is new but hopefully they keep it looking nice and make sure staff is cleaning correctly. Breakfast was good the normal Hampton breakfast. Juice machine wasn’t set up yet but they provided juice in a jug. However it tasted like it was just syrup. Breakfast lady was amazing super friendly and very helpful. Probably one of the best ones I’ve met on our 30th straight night traveling in different Hilton properties. Had a issue and the manager was very helpful and caring. No bottled water offered at check in for Diamond but honestly no big issue I’m sure they just hadn’t received them. Water park was okay, the kids enjoyed it but we only spent a few hours there, it was very loud, the lifeguards were very annoying and just yelling and blowing their whistles at everyone for anything, when they weren’t they were on their phones or talking not really paying attention. It had some odd rules that made it hard for my five year old to do anything but again we travel so much so I notice things. The water park isn’t ran by the hotel so I can’t rate my stay based on the water park. It’s super dark getting to the hotel but it looks like it’s a new development so I’m assuming over the next few years more will be added. I appreciate all the diamond parking spots it truly makes us feel valued, since Hilton has really let diamond members down by giving gold all the same benefits. I definitely would stay here again if I’m ever in the area and hopefully the hotel is ran tight so it...
