There were seven people in the whole place. We sat down at the bar, immediately stuck to the seats and our arms glued to the bartop — always a great start. The bartender, a Sunday morning Gen Zer, was parked at the end of the bar chatting with the guy in the black miner’s shirt (who I can only assume was in charge).
We waited a solid ten minutes before finally waving them down — there were only two groups at the bar, so there was exactly zero excuse. She took our drink order, then immediately walked away to resume her conversation.
When we waved her down again to ask about the drinks, she gave us that classic shocked look — somewhere between “Wow, I can’t believe I forgot” and “Why are you still talking to me?” Honestly, it was hard to tell. Then she left. Not just to the back — she literally left the building. Ten minutes later, she reappeared with two of the three Topo Chicos we ordered.
Needless to say, the rest of the experience followed the same charming pattern. We felt like we were bothering her just by existing. Naturally, she sprang into action when it came time to grab the receipt and check her stunning 7% tip — easily the most engaged she was all day.
The food? Basic pub grub: not really fresh, not really old, just... there.
All in all, it was a perfect reminder of why we stopped going five years ago. And yes —...
Read moreWe showed up on July 4th evening around 6pm looking for a couple drinks and some appetizers before the fireworks. Turned out to be an awful experience. Drinks were incredibly slow and half of our food never showed up. Server (Emily Haney) said she didn't hear us order the bruschetta even though she acknowledged the order.
Then server proceeds to tell us we can't find anyone to work and are short staffed because "your" president is paying people not to work. I totally understand and agree things are difficult right now, but at least tell us you're short staffed before we sit down and expect our normal dining experience. Instead we got 1 drink each in a matter of an hour and a half.
To be honest, I would easily forgive all of the above. One thing I will not forgive is you reaching out to my family via Facebook messenger to complain about the 6$ tip we gave you on a 55$ bill. Finding his name through his credit card receipt. Extremely unprofessional shows you clearly don't deserve a better tip.
See the below screen shot of the message that we got from the server via Facebook messenger--

Read moreMichael and I arrived after dark in Golden and needed a place to eat. We scrolled through restaurants on Google and found this one. The menu looked great with good prices, so we headed on over. We were not disappointed!
I ordered the Potted Egg... I couldn't have been happier. How can you go wrong with cheese and an egg... you can't. Although it's an appetizer, it's perfect as a dish for one person. Michael ordered the chili hot dog, and although he didn't finish it, he absolutely enjoyed every bite! (We brought that home.)
I don't usually do this, because it can be a huge mistake, but last night, I let the bartender make me a drink - his choice. I let him know I like sour, sweet, spicy, and a base of gin. He made me the St. George. I wrote down the ingredients it was that delicious! I also think our waiter was surprised by how much serrano chili syrup I liked in my drink. It was so good though!
Thank you Miner's Saloon!
Edit:
We've come back for another visit, and again, we weren't disappointed! Yum! We swung by for a couple of drinks and a light dinner. Their tomato soup is fantastic, and yet again, I let the bartender make me a spicy gin based drink. Did not disappoint! Can't...
