We thought we'd give them one more try after our last bad experience and was that ever a mistake! For a Friday night this place was pretty dead so we thought we'd get quick service, wrong again. I counted 4 4-tops in our section (including us) yet it took over 10 minutes before the waitress even came with water. The manager wandered past us 3-4 times and didn't bother to ask us if we had been helped yet. Our drinks and burnt onion rings came out quickly followed by our dinner just less than 4 minutes later . Luckily we didn't care about not having the time to enjoy our appetizer. I ordered the Trailside which was supposed to be a charbroiled chicken breast topped with pepper gravy and cheese along with cheesy augrautin potatoes. I'm not even sure my dog will eat this when I bring it home! The chicken was swimming in a putred gray brown gravy that looked like it was from last year. When I looked at the bottom of the chicken it looked lIke it has been boiled. This was all covered with cheese. I can't describe the taste! I spit out the 2nd bite. The augrautin potatoes were quite obviously rehydrated. There was absolutely nothing more done to them but being over cooked and covered with a slab of half melted cheese. No seasonings or put under the broiler, just nothing. I just don't get how a cook (if you can even call him that) could look at that and think "ya that looks good, let's send that out. Normally waitstaff will come by and ask how your food is but I guess she knew how bad it was so she didnt bother. Even when she brought me a take home box and saw my full plate of food she still didnt ask. Unfortunately we weren't the only ones not enjoying their experience. The table next to us was told "chill out or get out" when they asked for plates! They asked for the manager to which she replied "I am the manager, what's the problem". That developed in to a huge argument that the entire restaurant could hear. The patrons did get out of hand but it never would have escalated to the point it did if the manager would have done her job of "managing" instead of provoking them . I have never ever seen something like that where the manager was acting the way she did and saying the things she was saying. Before it got out of hand they had asked for the owners name and we're told to "look it up!". Really?!?! This went on and on. Instead of handling it and perhaps just asking them to leave she continued to engage them. Our last experience here wasn't much better. The barmaids were both on their cell phones even while taking our order. I'm pretty sure who ever they were talking to should have been the one told to "hang on a min" instead of me . Lastly when I go to a restaurant I prefer my waitstaff to be dressed like they gave a damn not dressed in grimy flip flops a stained t-shirt and sweat pants pulled up to their knees. I'm hoping I'm given the chance to add my picture I took of my food. BEWARE , DINE AT...
Read moreI am not the only review that is speaking poorly about their service, get it together! Can't say that I was able to try the food cause I was basically refused service and can confirm it was racially motivated. Heidi is the general manager and was also seating people coming into the restaurant. I needed a place that was dog friendly and a seat on the patio and was more than willing to wait. Heidi is probably the rudest person and an embarrassing excuse for a general manager, it is scary to think she is the one that coaches others and is supposed to hold others accountable. When it was my turn to be seated, I waited, she kept going around me and would not make eye contact with me. When I asked to be seated for two ( There was a table that was free, just needed to be cleaned up) . She basically said there was a waitlist while running around and walked away mid sentence. She has no problem seating the group of three ahead of me but the minute I walked to the podium , she pretended I didn't exist. After she walked away and I asked her how long the wait is, she said she would be back and get my name on a list but would not give me a timeframe. I am Indian-American just wanting to have a late lunch with my fiancee and dog on the patio. I was truly embarrassed and distraught that this is the kind of person responsible for an establishment. Heidi needs to get her head into the current century, if she tries to pull this kind of stuff there will be a discriminatory case against...
Read moreMy husband and I had hard good things about Old Capitol Grill, though at this point neither of us can remember where from. Neither of us recall hearing anything bad. That said, we don't see ourselves returning here.
The wait staff seemed slightly overwhelmed, but we weren't sure why. We were given an estimate of about 25 minutes for a table for 2 (1st available) and proceeded to sit outside where we observed multiple cleared tables sit empty and finished tables wait to be cleared. That said, we waited maybe 10 minutes.
The "spicy" Capital Punishment chili didn't seem to be spiced, let alone spicy. It had the texture of canned hot dog chili (no beans) with slightly less flavor. The sourdough bread bowl the chili came in was similarly lacking in flavor.
The 1/2 BLT was described as between 1/3-assed and 1.2-assed, while the onion soup was reviewed as "decently and likely made from scratch, not a mix".
We were seated in a mostly empty area and the couple seated next to us had to wait over 5 minutes for a drink order, and when the server re-appeared she had to ask if they'd ordered food yet - even though I was reasonably certain it was the same server. Another 3 tables near us weren't cleared until we'd been there 10 minutes. And when we left, there was still a line.
Similarly, the prices here were not the sales point, with the chili running $2 above what was listed on Grub Hub - the first place I could find the...
