The Eureka science museum was a fun experience. We were visiting family from out of town and this was our first time visiting. There were many great hands on stations and exhibits that kept our kids busy and entertained for hours. I personally enjoyed the evolution walkthrough with live fish and critters in tanks. The staff on site were also very friendly and helpful. Everything seemed pretty clean and maintained.
My only complaint...and unfortunately it is a glaring one...was accessibility for disabled to actually get into the building. I required a wheelchair for this outing with my family and to simply get up from the parking lot and in the front doors was a large task for me. I couldn't believe that there wasn't a ramp to the front entrance! And it was only after our visit that we actually noticed the handicap parking. But even if we had parked there, we would have still had to go all the way around the landscaping to the main road's sidewalk and then circle back up the slope to the building. Also it's worth noting that it was a a torrential downpour as we were trying to get in. I was pretty miserable once I finally made it in. Please, if administration sees this, for the sake of others who require mobility aids (especially children!) do something to remedy this. More accessible ramp from parking to the entrance and higher visibility handicap parking. Sidenote, once inside, accessibility seemed to be good for getting around in a standard width wheelchair and I had no issues there.
Thanks for the fun experience for our family and I hope that you take this all as...
Read moreTwo years ago I gave this place a 5 start review. Below is how I use to feel about this facility. It is obvious it is under a new board of directors that does not adhere to previous visions. The full time staff hasn’t changed, but some of the new part time staff is not as well versed as what they have had in the past. College students should not be telling kids under the age of 10 that they don’t have to wear a mask after being vaccinated. Children under the age of ten never were mandated to wear mask in the state of CO, but this facility still made children over the age of 5 yo wear mask when at camps. Now this educational facility is hosting vaccine clinics during school out camps. I cannot support something like this. I cannot allow my child to attend a school where they are allowing vaccine clinics. I am sad to see how things have changed over the past two years. I pray that Eureka gets back to where they were so I can stand behind my previous statements which is shared below.
Best place in Grand Junction! I absolutely love this museum. It is really an unknown resource in the Grand Valley. From the exhibits, to the camps, to the movie nights and birthday parties, Eureka has the best to offer for families. More than I could have ever imagined! If you haven't been, go and check out all they have to offer.
(I no longer believe this is the best place in...
Read moreThis place is NOT safe! My daughter attended summer camps there. During camp she was tackled and choked by another kid over a toy that she was trying to find the owner for. About a month later a kid with developmental disabilities punch my kid in the neck. All 3 directors stated that both incidents were a wrong place, wrong time scenario, and at no fault of my daughters. Both incidents happened during recess. We gave Eureka every opportunity to correct the issues, but they refuse to take responsibility. During our meeting with the directors they even tried to play like they were the victims. How the executive director handled the whole situation was very unprofessional. If asked they might tell you that they kicked us out, or that it was a mutual split. That is NOT TRUE! In all actuality we removed our daughter from an UNSAFE environment! If you have any questions or would like to know more details please feel free to ask. I have posted in their Facebook page and can answer through that platform. I would NOT recommend this place...
