My lunch today at Bravo Pizza was, in a word, awful. We saw cheese steaks on the menu and began to remember the lovely, juicy, hot and delicious subs from back home in New England. The sub sandwich we actually received was truly an abysmal disappointment, to say the least. Neither the young woman at the counter nor the 2 older men in the kitchen area could tell us what kind of beef is used in the steak subs. One said simply "steak kind", while another simply said they didn't know. What I received was a very average piece of bread with a very meager portion of dry looking "beef" and what appeared to be one slice of our requested American cheese semi-melted underneath. The worst part, however, was that under the cheese was a thick, gloppy layer of what appeared to be mayonnaise. I hate - no, I despise mayonnaise. NOWHERE on the menu boards or website does it say anything about the steak sandwiches being slathered in mayo. This being our first time at Bravo Pizza, we had no idea this was their usual practice. We returned to the counter with the sub, telling the woman that we cannot eat it with mayo; we received a blank stare that seemed to go on forever. She simply didn't know what to do, so we simply requested the sandwich be remade sans mayo. We got our new sub, and it actually looked worse than the original. The taste was just so blandly generic, cold and flavorless. We also ordered a "giant slice" of the Chepparoni pizza at a price of $6 per slice. A slice of cheese pizza was covered in pepperoni slices and a very small amount of cheddar cheese and placed back in the oven to warm. We were excited to try the pizza, until we received the grease-slicked offering at our table. The appearance alone was off-putting, but the taste was truly something unfortunate. The sauce was overly sweet and was loaded with garlic flavor; the cheese was a bit rubbery and lacked any flavor. The extensive swath of pepperoni was simply a receptacle for the enormous pool of grease swimming on our slice. The best part of the meal was the thin and slightly chewy crust under it all. In total, we spent $20 for the slice, the sub and 2 sodas. All in all, this local college hole-in-the-wall pizza place was...
Read moreDecided to take a chance on a place I hadn't been before mainly because, I had a hankering for some falafel and they were the only place in town that was open and had it on the menu. So I called up and placed my order. No hassle there. By the time I arrived it was ready to go. (approx. 12 minutes later)
Now here's where things get a little weird. After I asked for extra tzatziki, the person who was tasked with retrieving it for me seemed to be, putting it nicely, not in an expeditious mood. The kicker, and why this is 4 stars and not 5 stars, was that he could not even bring himself to look in my direction, let alone in the eye as he handed them to me. As he walked up to the counter he sort of rolled his eyes and looked away. Not very courteous or professional. I don't know if he didn't want to be there or was offended by my presence, but I don't care. I know my customers don't care if I'm not feeling it that day or if I feel some sort of way about them.
Other than that, good food and overall good service. I'll...
