I wish I could say something nice about the food at this place. We were in GJ for 3 days and thought Mexican food sounded fabulous after our 6 1/2 hour drive through the mountains the day we arrived. We were super hungry and excited to have a nice dinner but it was too late in the evening to eat at the Mexican restaurants with the higher ratings (which were closed) so we ended up at Fiesta Guadalajara even though it only had 3 1/2 stars.
We should have left after the appetizer. Can anyone really make BAD NACHOS? Especially out West? (we once had super bad Nachos in New England, but it's forgivable there as NO one on the East Coast seems to know how to make good Mexican food!
Anyway, the nachos LOOKED great but the salsa on them had no heat and seemed to have no salt. The cheese they used was plentiful but it I swear it was RUBBERIZED cheese! No matter how much you chewed, it did NOT go down well. And the beef....oh dear!! It was the consistency of finely ground cat food and did not taste like beef at all. It was just wrong!! We tried pushing all the "meat" to the side but it didn't help. My son proclaimed the nachos to be "even worse than the ones we had in New England!"
We should have left after that disaster but we thought it just HAD to get better. BIG MISTAKE!! It got much worse!
We knew that the beef was a bad idea, so my sons and husband ordered enchilada's that supposedly had pork in them and I got a chicken chimichanga. The pork was the consistency of cheap tuna-fish and did NOT taste like ANY pork we've ever had. Very weird flavor that creeped us all out. I figured the chimichanga HAD to be good, but the chicken seemed canned and was strange. I ate about 1/3rd of it and could not eat the rest. I tried to give it away to my boys who were starving hungry and who hadn't eaten their own meal, but had no takers. The cheese was the same as in the nacho's and was tough and rubbery, even when melted. I'd ordered some Chili Relleno's to share but they came with the same scary cheese as everything else, and the chili's seemed to have a fried eggs or some sort of omelet included in them. :o/ It was just TOO weird. I took 2 bites of the chili relleno's and was DONE!
We sent 90% of the food we had ordered back to the kitchen!! The waiter was nice but mostly clueless as we did make some comments about the problems we encountered during dinner, but he didn't seem to "get" how unhappy we were. Though he did seem a little perplexed by the fact that we had barely touched any of our food when he came to take our plates. He did ask if we wanted to talk to the manager, and we probably should have, but mostly we were feeling ill and just wanted to leave quickly and try to forget our experience. We also didn't want to shame or embarrass them. I know it must be hard for restaurants to afford good ingredients in this bad economy (esp. meats!) but this was just so sad to go somewhere with high expectations, pay out nearly $60.00 and leave hungry! We then went to the only place close by that was still open (it was almost 10:00 pm) which was "DQ"...to have a hamburger! :o/ My teenaged kids were so put off by this experience that they never want to go out for "Mexican Food" again....which I love, so that's super...
Read moreBy far the worst Mexican food I've ever had. When you eat Latino food you should experience an array of spices and flavor. I actually had to salt the pork and couldn't even eat the shredded beef. The pork tasted like nothing, you couldn't even taste the green chili that was on it. My taco shell basically disintegrated when I picked up the taco. I let the waiter know after he walked past me on the third time. He asked me if I wanted him to bring me a new taco shell Lmfao. By the look I must have had on my face he said it was because I chose shredded beef and it ruins the shell (btw the pork one was already falling apart when bee brought it to me). I have had my fair share of Mexican food and have never experienced this. I asked him what meat he would recommend in a taco then. He said ground beef. I said ok let's try that. He brought me one and their ground beef looked like cat food. I have never had runny beef before. He had obviously gone back and threw it together. The lettuce was frozen and he didn't put cheese on it. I hate to complain to wait staff pretty much for this reason. I pushed it aside and he brought the check. Never made an offer to make the situation better (maybe because I didn't make a stink - not a "scene" type of gal). Never asked me how the meal was and never once refilled my water. I don't know how this place has been here this long serving this terrible food. Zero flavor. Zero spice. I'd never recommend this place. I thought the slop at tequilas was bad, at least it has flavor. Taco bell has better flavor than this place. Let that sink in. At least the tacos make it through the...
Read moreFiesta Guadalajara is a very good restaurant, lots of dishes to choose from and the taste is like you are in Mexico, very authentic aromatic and just plain delicious, I tried carne azada along with beans and rice and it was out this world, so I imagine the rest of the menu is full of greatness. I have chosen carne azada because I am very familiar with this dish , I liked in ciudad Juarez, mexico and I found it to be as good as the original, so from my point of taste, I will recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for authentic Mexican restaurant, I also order a margarita, and if you had this drink before anywhere else you will taste as you like it, but i will l go one step forward and tell you that this is a drink that it taste delicious ,better than the margaritas you're a costume.
