So I take my phone in to this place today to get my screen replaced as I had dropped it and shattered the screen. I called around and this was the closest place plus the least expensive. I take my phone in and tell them that I had called around. All the people there were really nice and told me that it would about an hour to an hour and a half. I say ok and left. When I come back to get my phone, they say they are still working on it and that it will be just a few more minutes...40 minutes later they say that they have fixed the screen but that they have busted the power button and can't turn my phone back on. Now to be nice I will say that they I sat there about 15 minutes at first and they told me that they were trying to fix the power button because they had lost the plastic clip when they opened it. Any way long story short, I am out 96 buck, and have a phone that does not work. It will a week or longer before the part that they lost gets in and so I am with out a phone for business. If I had just gone and paid the extra 40 dollars at the other place I would have a phone. I will be calling tomorrow to make a formal complaint with the manager, who I hope is not the guy that was working on my phone.
1/31/18: So this is an update to my original review of One Star. After talking to the manager and making arrangements for a loaner phone on 1/22/18, I got the loaner phone. I can not in good conscience give them more than 3 stars. First their customer service is still lacking. And although they got my phone fixed before they said they would the girl that called to let me know that it was ready was rude and kind of hateful about the fact that I could not come in right away and get my phone. Also after getting my phone back it is still not quite what it was. I have to push the power button more than once for it to do anything, the space bar in text only works about half the time and the send button works only if I press it really hard. It is like that part of the screen is not right. I have 90 days to take it back to get it looked at, but I am not sure when my schedule will let me get in there. I am giving 3 stars at this point and if I need to revise this review again I will. I guess all in all it is an ok place to take your phone as long as you get the manager of the one young man with dark hair...
Read moreWish I could write a review without giving stars. This is more of a PSA than to shame these companies, although they honestly could’ve done a little better. (This story does end with a happy ending though.)
I brought my iPhone 13 Mini (1-1/2 years old at this point) in to Phone Medic because it wouldn’t turn on. Told the employee that I dropped it in the pool a week ago but that it should be fine based on the water rating of my iPhone (depth of water + time in water was nowhere near my phone’s water rating limit). Regardless, he said he could open it up for $50 but usually with water damage there’s not much they can do. He didn’t sound very optimistic. He asked if I wanted to buy a phone from them and I declined.
Later that morning I went to NerdTap which is also well reviewed and it was the same $50 to open up the phone, but he seemed a little more hopeful that a part could be replaced to fix my phone. I changed my mind after hearing how much replacement parts/labor would cost (hundreds). Might as well buy a new phone at that point.
Finally, I go home and think about my options. Buying a new iPhone in spring sucks because new iPhones will be out in the fall. I was so close to doing that before FINALLY finding an Apple support article online that said to press volume up, volume down, and then hold the power button until the Apple logo shows up. Lo and behold, eureka, it worked! It clearly wasn’t water damage after all and I believe the issue could have been related to a power surge due to an electrical pole going down near my house from a big wound storm the night before.
If we had an actual Apple Store in GJ, that’s the first thing they would’ve done. Unfortunately, I had to find this on my own and neither repair shop attempted this force reboot procedure. I’m beyond thrilled I was able to resolve this for free. I’m tempted to give fewer stars, but these companies probably do perfectly fine work most of the time on cracked screens, etc. and they forgot to hard reboot (still tho, very disappointed in them for not doing this as step #1!!!). It really, really sucks to have a phone that’s completely unresponsive. So glad I’m back up...
Read moreRecently I got a call from these guys asking if the repair on my iPad was good. I didn’t have my iPad available so I didn’t know how to answer. I finally found my iPad and no it was not good. It had cracks from what it appears to be. Poor workmanship and poor quality materials.
I took it in within a month of that phone call and I said the repair you did on this iPad is faulty. They said that since it was cracked, they couldn’t do anything about it. I’m a senior citizen, after the initial conversation I walked out to my vehicle and decided to go back in to the store. When I did these two young IT chumps were laughing about me and my request. When they saw me walk through the door, they shut up pretty quickly. They said they will not repair unless I paid another $150. I left without saying a word.
DO NOT use this company, they are unprofessional, use poor quality materials, do not back up their warranty or workmanship they think they’re smarter than everybody else that knows nothing about computers or iPads or phones and they pray on senior citizens and their lack of knowledge of current electronics.
When I went there to have this iPad screen replaced I showed him my iPhone 12 and asked if it was worth anything they said no and they would only give me 25 bucks for it. I’m waiting for my iPad to get repaired. I noticed another iPhone 12 in the case Similar to mine in worse condition and they were selling it for close to $400.
These jokers pray on unsuspecting consumers, and don’t treat senior citizens very well and they don’t warranty their...
