I was in the area looking for ideas for a coworker's gift, something relating to his favorite sports teams. I spotted this store in the mini mall and noticed that it was a small mom-and-pop type shop and figured "This would be the place to shop!". I used to work in small retail just like this many years ago, so I appreciate giving my money to them more than I do big retailers.
I was greeted as I came in, and not knowing what to search for I explained that I needed a gift under $15 for our holiday party and what my coworker likes. I was given some ideas and areas of the store I might look around.
I found a 1983 Tigers yearbook that looked fun (priced fairly because it's a common find). I did continue to look around but nothing in my price range or the teams I was searching for.
After the purchase as I walked out the door, though, someone yelled something about "Next time pay with cash!" which was pretty rude. Someone could have said something at the checkout that purchases under a certain amount would need to be paid for in cash. I didn't have any cash on me anyway, but I could have been swayed to keep looking around to make it worth the while to use my card.
So I will not be rating 5 stars because of the attitude I received as I left. It made me feel like I wasn't really welcome there after all. I understand how stressful retail is during the holidays, and I also understand how rude many customers can be when shopping in a place that is just trying to make a fair profit.
I hope to have a better experience...
Read moreLast month was our 1st time visiting. We drove over an hour to get to LS&G. They are the nearest to our knowledge that sells Cardfight Vanguard cards & booster boxes. This was main reason we were making the drive. They have an impressive collection of Yugioh, Pokemon and I think they had Dragonball too. The wide selection of sports memorabilia and how was displayed in store was great too. Really nice set up. Although we are not too much into sports some of our family is so will be making a trip up to store again for holiday shopping. Prices on most things are very competitive with other shops around. A few things were a lil highly priced but thats ok. When you become a member of there rewards program i think its called those few pricey things becomes more affordable. Also you get great deals on stuff. I only wish especially after making such a long drive that they had a little bit bigger selection of Cardfight Vanguard booster boxes and had more than just the latest sets. Like perhaps have some from 2017 and 2018 and maybe a few vintage ones from 2012-2016. It be cool if they could order from distributors stuff we want. Anyways after novel length review I just want to say we recommend this shop and had a decent 1st time...
Read moreVery nice, well lit store with plenty of employees. Very welcoming coming in. I visit as many spots card shops as possible, this was my first time in. They have a member discount for $9.99/year for discounts up to 25% off for the year which is nice. I turned in my $40 in Topps credit cards which can be used in exchange for merchandise. I also picked out about 15 cards ranging from $1.99-$12.99 (mostly lower end. I had some cards I brought, he picked a nice chrome Jordan and a Blake Corum autograph card and offered $40 in trade. I was a little shocked as I slid my cards back. Also there was no wiggle room on the $70 worth of singles. I guess I'm used to feeling like I get a little deal, especially on singles. They lacked a lot of newer boxes, packs and such, probably due to it being more of a memorabilia store. Also ask if things are authentic or not, they sell both. Nice store, but too pricey for me. They do have some nice jerseys autographed in frames and other autograph items! Maybe I was expecting more cards. Check it out for yourself, the store itself...
