We are locals so when we have visitors we always recommend this place. Usually they walk you through every step and you get to do a lot of hands on of the making of the item. It usually takes about 15-20 minutes and the experience is amazing as they explain everything and show you how to do all the steps, etc. This trip our friends got jipped and I felt so bad that it was a pricey but unexciting experience. It took about 3-5 minutes, they did NOT get to chose from all the options- only the one option of a hollow circle ornament (boring). They didnt get to do anything but blow in the tube. No shaping the item, no placing it in the fire kiln, nothing. No explanation of anything. Felt completely rushed the entire time since they were back to back appointments. So disappointing!!!! We asked the gentleman about the lack of quality this time and he said they dont do "all that" on the weekends because they dont have enough staff. Well...... maybe say that prior to us making our reservation and then maybe dont charge as much. The high prices are worth it for the experience but without the full experience it just isnt worth it. SO, my suggestion is ASK THEM first what they are offering before making an appointment. If they are offering the whole experience then do it! If they are going to "short change" the experience then just pass on it- save your time and money for...
Read moreVery beautifully made items. Pricey but worth it. Watched the glass blowers make Christmas bulbs. Fascinating. Update: We returned to Grants Pass and visited the factory again and purchased a paperweight. We then got a lighted base for it and put it on display in our home. It shows the colors an pattern so beautifully that we get wonderful compliments from everyone who comes to the house. Currently we are in contact with the factory to create a personal peace for us and to have it either videotaped or to watch it via webcam as they do as they created based on my request of colors and style. It is such a wonderful place that make sure design dreams come true. I highly recommend you take the time to visit ask questions and watch their great creative process. Allow yourself enough time to really enjoy the showroom. You can look at it and walk around two or three times and still find something new that you missed the first time. It's all...
Read moreWe saw an ad for the Glass Forge in a hotel booklet and decided to spontaneously add it to our coastal hwy trip and we're So glad we did. Watching the artisans at work, transforming 2000°F glass into stunning pieces of art right in front of you is incredible! From start to on the shelf is an 18 hour process for a multi-color globe, and you can see and feel the dedication to this art in all the people who work there. The prices are quite reasonable and the staff amazing! On a personal note: we happened in on a rough day for us as parents (a child with a medical emergency and trying to coordinate care away from home), and the way they treated us was extraordinary. I can not recommend them enough and can assure you, we will make sure to add The Glass Forge to our S. Oregon every chance we get as well encourage others to...
