It's always nice to enjoy a meal, when the service and waitperson, both provide a pleasant experience.
The laughing clam. Another suggestion from locals at the visitor center! And yes! Again, I was looking for a place that served up a good tasty bowl of Clam Chowder Soup.
This was my second visit to this restaurant, the first visit wasn't such a wonderful experience, but I decided to give it a second chance and thank goodness, I did, cause my wait person Tina, she was the best! Happy, friendly, attentive, honest, and helpful.
I went, after the lunch rush, so I feel like I scored on the experience being more real and I thoroughly, enjoyed it.
This time I ordered, a bowl of clam chowder soup and a half greek salad and found both to be yummy, filling and healthy!
So, the only thing I would suggest management do, is make the price of the half greek salad comparable to the size of a half greek salad.
According to the menu, a full greek salad is $10.99, and the half greek salad ended up costing me $8.99, $3 less, only because they use less lettuce. Personally, I think the 1/2 greek salad should be $6.99 ~ which is close to half the regular price for a full salad. And, if they didn't use less ingredients (feta, onions, olives), then the regular size salad must look pretty barren, since there is more lettuce in it.
But, all in all, I would still return to this restaurant, just not order the 1/2 greek salad, until the price was more comparable to its size. The clam chowder is good b/c I like hearty dense (comfort food like) soups, especially when its only 40...
Read moreThis used to be one of my favorite spots in town. I hadn’t eaten here in a few years, so my wife and I decided to stop by for drinks and dinner. It was a lovely fall evening, so we chose to sit outside. The first thing we noticed was that the chairs were uncomfortable and awkward. It wasn’t a huge issue, but it made us want to leave sooner rather than stay for another drink and enjoy the evening. Our server was mediocre. She wasn’t particularly friendly, the service was slow, and she never checked in to see if we liked the food or needed anything else. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. I ordered the steamer clams as an appetizer. They were passable, but something about the taste seemed off, and several clams were empty. For our main course, I had the fish and chips, while my wife got the buffalo chicken sandwich. The fish was just okay—there was way too much batter, and the coating fell off as soon as I picked it up. They also placed the fish directly on top of the fries, which made them soggy instead of crispy. My wife’s sandwich tasted good, but the chicken was very dry. Overall, it wasn’t the best experience and didn’t live up to the way I remembered this place from a...
Read moreHad the fish and chips. Meh. That's about all I can say about them. I would imagine they taste about the same at Shari's. It wasn't busy, as it was in between afternoon and dinner. Took at least 15 mins for the waitress to come back by after my food had been served . Several employees walked by and noticed that I wasn't eating yet said nothing. The ranch dressing is brown and as I was told it doubles as their blue cheese. Who the hell does that?! I sent it back the first time as I thought that it was spoiled. Nope. Same horrible "ranch/blue cheese" sent back out to me. I honestly don't... They are completely different flavors, it doesn't make sense. Anyways. The waitress was Extremely superficial. I get it, I've worked in customer service most of my life. You may not care about what the customer is saying, but at least listen? It was literally like she had headphones in and was listening to music while I talked. That's not the restaurants fault though. I really felt like because I was not a regular (yes I've lived here for 7 years but haven't been there) that my experience didn't matter. Honestly, I had a better experience at the Haul, and I would never go back...
