I have lived majority of my life in Charleston. My girlfriend from out of town never really had fresh seafood on the east coast. We were all really excited for a wonderful southern family seafood experience. As we were settling in we were greeted by our server who was friendly and attentive however things took a turn for the worse. As someone who is really only a fan of shrimp and calamari I was expected to have limited options of things I would like. However both the shrimp and calamari were not only rubbery and disappointing but they tasted like low quality microwavable T.V dinner as well as the vegetables that were included in my 15 month old nieces meal. I also ordered some fried chicken that tasted like it had been cooked in the same oil as all of the fish. I had ordered the chicken in hopes that I would be able to taste the chicken and unfortunately I was unable to eat the chicken and the rest of my dinner out of pure disgust. To make matters worse when the rest of my family was (who i might add are huge fans of all kinds of seafood) were revolted by the quality of the food they only agreed to discount us for five dollars. Ive never been one to complain about a meal to the point of receiving it for free however none of us were even able to eat the food and it felt absurd that they were charging us the amount they were. In fact I have never left a yelp review before however I feel compelled to warn other people of how unfortunate our experience was in hopes to prevent it from occurring again. Also my girlfriend and I were charged for sodas when we only ordered soda water. Never in my life have I had to pay for soda water in a restaurant. After all of this we were only discounted the five dollars I had mentioned earlier. I highly encourage people to read the reviews for this place before wasting money and time here. Someone should review the management and the head chef at this place to assure everything is being...
Read moreAfter a long day of working at home treated myself to dinner out. Was greeted immediately by hostess and seared in a section of what appeared to be adults. This is a family friendly restaurant as several large family groups went in just ahead of ne but apparently were seated on the other side of the restaurant. My waitress was there almost as I sat down. She took my drink order while I checked out the menu. She returned with my water and took my food order. Almost immediately my cocktail arrived followed by my appetizer of onion rings. My only complaint was they were cut too thick. They were real and right of the fryer but I had to use my knife and fork to eat them. If they had been half as wide when sliced into rings I could have used my fingers. I consider onion rings a finger food especially when served az an appetizer. My food arrived and the French fries were hit and extra crispy as requested. The flounder was nice and hot and crispy also. Having just relocated to Greenville from the SC coast I am picky about my seafood. I am used to having it right from the boat. This was pretty decent. I did not care for the coleslaw nor the hushpuppies. The slsw was so finely ground up it was almost a paste. The tiny paper cup of slaw was almost an afterthought. The hushpuppies were a weird shape and tasteless. But they redeemed themselves with dessert. The choices were many but I finally settled on a white chocolate raspberry cake. The white layers were moist and night and light. It had to to have been homemade. The raspberry filling was nice and the white chocolate frosting and shaved swirls were divine. I brought half of my slice home and enjoyed it for Sunday dinner. Oh, and the iced tea was set, cold and brewed, a definite plus in my book. I will try 5hem again to see how they handle shrimp and scallops, broiled instead of fried, and zi will definitely upgrade to the salad and...
Read moreWe've been looking for a place like this for awhile now. Always passed it by going to Papa's and Beer. Finally checked it out and it is amazing!!
I'm not much of a broiled or seafood in a bag type of guy. I want it fried and this place does not disappoint. First time we went it was lunch time, but I asked for the dinner menu our waitress took care of that no problem. So with the dinner menu in hand I went with the combination with fried catfish filet, fried clams and fried baby shrimp. That came with coleslaw, cajun fries and hushpuppies. The cajun fries are delicious, coleslaw is very good as well, the hushpuppies are pretty standard. They're good enough.
What shines is the food, good Lord it's good. All of it came out so hot and fresh. That catfish is hand breaded and just perfectly cooked and delicious. Clam strips were unlike what I'm used to. They were incredibly fresh and delicious. Shrimp were on point.
Came back a second time, this time went for the lunch menu. Went with catfish and shrimp but tried out their clam chowder. It's delicious as was everything else we had.
Service has been spectacular both trips. Our first trip was Leigh Ann and she was amazing. She took care of us newbies and was so fun. Our second trip was Nicole and she picked up right were Leigh Ann left off. Service wins me every time and Harbor Inn is killing it.
Not to mention the place is just cute as can be. The decorations and atmosphere is 10/10. I love this place, come check it out.
Before I wrap this up I want to mention we tried their crab dip. The dip is good, but they send it out with tortilla chips which is weird. Needs to be some type of crustini or cracker. That's my only diss...
