Read moreAlthough I don't profess to be connoisseur of Vietnamese cuisine, I was born in Houston where the Vietnamese community is HUGE, worked in San Jose, CA for 20+ years (where the community is large), and had the good fortune to travel to Vietnam with a Vietnamese business partner on several occasions. Having lived in Greenville for 25 years, I can say that this is the best Vietnamese food in Greenville, and on par with all of the lunch places I enjoyed in San Jose. What I really liked was the variety. First of all, they make a great Banh Mi sandwich. The baguette was just as good as Lee's on the West Coast (light and crunchy). Normally you will find a place that does one thing well, however, Pho Nomenal also makes great Phở. I can see other things on the menu that I am looking forward to trying. For example, their rice dishes (Com Tam Thit Nuong) as well as their Vermicelli combination (Bun Tom Thit Nuong Cha Gio). After speaking with one of the family owners, they told me that they plan to try and bring real Vietnamese drip coffee (Cà Phê Sữa Đá) and maybe we will get lucky and they will roll out broken rice dishes like Com Tam Tau Hu Ky Suon Bi, or if we are really really lucky, maybe we will see some clear noodle soup varieties (Phở Miến).

Both were the same exact size. We tried to feel the noodles but it felt the same. The condiments to go with the pho was for 1 order of pho, we had to ask for extra. We asked for chili oil and they brought us sambal sauce instead. I also ordered the pancake and they told me they couldn’t make it. Why, on your grand opening week would you not be able to make it, but yet have it on your menu? To make the pancake is super easy so I doubt it was due to ingredients. My daughter ordered the rice plate, the food was cold. The pork was over cooked, so was the shrimp. The egg was sitting for awhile bc it was colder than the rest of the food. Next, we had the vermicelli bowl and it was okay, the meat portion was like 8 slices and 1 egg roll. Definitely, was a smaller portion than other local places. For grand opening week, I expected more. Can’t say I enjoyed it. I should had just went to Tuk tuk or 99, for pho and everything else. It’ll be a long time from now before I’m willing to try it again. Not to mention, they are priced higher then the other viet restaurants...
