If handcut zabiha halal meat is important to you then take note.
This place sells chicken that is machine cut 'halal' not hand cut zabiha halal. The cerificate is clearly displayed on the wall behind the check out counter. Their supplier is marjac
The chicken is extremely large, breast pieces the size of turkey breast and meat is very tough (quality issue/cheap meat/restaurant depot low quality meat).
The prices are very expensive comparing them to the competitor zabiha halal meat store in Greenville.
The hygiene of meat department is questionable. You can not see the meat being weighed or cut clearly. Often times the 'butcher' will use the bathroom with his apron on thats worn when cutting/handling meat. Ive also seen him a number of times eating while handling meat.
On the positive side they do have fresh pita bread and other groceries which you may need for Arab Indian or Pakistani cuisine. They often have fresh fruit and vegetables (check their facebook page for updates). Since being taken over by the previous owner this store has improved but i feel like they need to update the store and actually provide zabiha halal meat.
The store is very dated with leak stained ceilings and generally dated appearance.
The owners are polite and helpful, my advice would be priority zabiha handcut halal meat (misleading ummah as they just assume its halal currently and people shopped here as there was no halal meat store other than this place) to update the store, find new suppliers so we can have cheaper products.
I wish them well however i wont be continuing to shop here anymore after 8 years of...
Read moreSmall Shoppe but filled with wonderful finds that are super affordable! There is a butcher with great prices! Goat, lamb, chicken, beef, testicles, etc. There is a to-go area where you can get chicken shawarma, falafel, fries, and a few other options. The chicken shawarma is cooked on a spit, and they cut it to order, and throw it on the grill for a few mins. The wraps are huge! You WILL not go hungry. Couldn't put it down, and ended up over eating and 10/10 would do it again. Tons of spices ground and whole, dairy (incl goats milk), non dairy, tea, pickled items, hummus, beans, legumes, grape leaves, hair dye, chutneys, ramen, candies, etc. MY ONLY complaint is the parking lot entrance. If you have a car, you WILL bottom out. Tons of parking, store is handicap accessible and has marked spots as well. No...
