I have bought 3 items from Video Game World on 2 separate occasions. On the first, I bought a Wiimote, believing it to be real. They sell faithful looking 3rd party remotes, that they remove from the original packaging and put in a bag that looks like what gamestop puts their used remotes in, to give the impression you're buying a used OEM remote when you are, in fact, buying a new 3rd party one. I came back in, another time, to buy a ds game for my girlfriends little brother. While I was there, I decided to buy a Wii U, since I've wanted one for a while, and I saw they had one in stock. While there, I asked again about OEM wiimotes, and talked about my dictates for 3rd party accessories. They told me they had no oem wiimotes, but the 3rd party ones they sell "they have never had anyone return." Good to know, they accept returns. We'll, as it turns out, the DS game I bought didn't work- we tried it in 3 DS systems, no dice. I guess that means they sell untested video games. That would've been nice to know before handing them over money. In addition, the Wii U I bought came with a 3rd party power cord, a 3rd party charger for the game pad, and a 3rd party sensor bar. Had I known any of that, I would've never bought it, and even after expressing I don't like 3rd party products, and before I paid, the employees felt no need to warn me of this. So, I decided I'd return the Wii U & DS game. Today, I went in, knowing their return policy was only for broken products- And even putting the Wii U, which I was sold under false pretenses, to the side, they wouldn't even let me get my money back for the $8 DS game- they told me it was store credit only. I don't want store credit. You are predatory and do not deserve my business. If you're looking for a store to buy older video games, check out The Poor Gamer on Lauren's road or Video Game Cavern in Taylor's. I've had great experiences with both, but avoid Video Game World like the plague.
One last thing- As a business, it's your job to take on financial risks, not the job of the consumer. Amazon would've refunded me before they even received the item back, even if I was only returning it because I didnt want it, and at Video Game World I can't get a refund even if it's broken and I have it in hand. The risk of people "using you as a rental service" is frankly not my problem as a legitimate customer, it's your's, and you don't sacrifice your customers for the sake of inconveniences. I bought the Wii U and DS game 2 days ago. I did not rent it. I never even put a game in the Wii U. I still can't get my money back.
I will be filing a claim with my credit card company, and if they deny that, I will see...
Read moreThis place is an absolute joke. After having emailed the place with a list of things I wanted to sell, I was given a price quote and told I was clear to bring my items to the store to sell and receive payment. I took my items into the store and left them for the employees to look through and verify everything. I literally spent my entire day in the mall waiting for the employees to contact me saying they were finished and after 2.5 hours, I decided to go back to the store. I was then informed that they were "unable to take my items". So I wasted my entire day for absolutely nothing. Will never ever do business with this place ever again. Beyond livid with...
Read moreI really like this place. I managed to find a pretty decent condition CIB copy of Super Metroid here. Unfortunately it's yet another store of the many, many stores that charge market instead of msrp for pokemon cards. Probably why they're the only store around that has a good amount of stock despite having no limit on purchases. Boardwalk is right around the corner outside the mall, and even though they limit how many you can get, at least it's at msrp. TLDR: Buy anything but pokemon...
