In my efforts to find new and interesting places to dine, I do have my go-to regular spots. Subs and Clubs was one such spot. When Empire Deli moved in, I was wary to say the least. But when I walked in, there was this air of fresh life breathed into the restaurant. Kind of a brightness that gave me hope as I stood patiently, awaiting my turn to order. I had perused the menu all week, wondering if I would find a suitable replacement to my Blackened Steak and Cheese that I used to get. The closest I found was the Spicy Cheesesteak, where I swapped onions for mushrooms. It did not disappoint. It carried a heat that burned my lips, and encouraged me to try the seasoned fries as I took my time to enjoy the cheesy goodness of my sandwich. The mozzarella sticks were thick and flavorful with their seasoned crust, and my companion gave rave reviews of her own about the smashburger on her plate. The French Dip was similarly impressive in size and taste, and the onion rings are crispy and beer battered. I recommend the fries instead however. Cooked nice and crispy, a perfect accoutrement to the main star of the show, the cheesesteak. The only downside to the new establishment is the pricing. .50 for a sauce for your fries. 2.50 for a drink if you get a smashburger (which ironically is the only sandwich section that automatically comes with fries), even tho a combo of drink and fries for any other sandwich is 3.00. More on the expensive side, expect to spend 15.00-20.00+ dollars a person if you tip. And you should tip! In short, I will deffinately be back. Just perhaps not on a regular basis with the entire family.

EDIT (10/25/2023) - changed from all 5 stars I do not want to come off as mean, but wow this was not expected. We were unaware that the restaurant had changed management (and recipes, apparently). The menu had some of the original items left, but had been cut down drastically. I'm not sure if the reuben (the first photo) is still a special but there was no signage that they still served it. We ordered the spicy Philly cheesesteak again...not the best. The fries are different. Heck, even the fry sauce has changed. Nothing tasted even remotely similar to the OG food. I completely understand that new management likely means a change in recipe and final product, but this is an outstanding difference. And for the same premium price!! $25 to split a singular sandwich and fries. It was worth the money before - not at all anymore. (I posted the new Philly cheesesteak and fries as the last picture here so you can see). It borderline seems like a flim flam to keep the "Empire Deli" name because it certainly does not give the same experience under the previous ownership. I never ever want to bad talk a local place or yuck someone's yum but for those who knew the old Empire, you're in for a big big change if and when you visit again. -- OLD REVIEW (04/2023): the Pastrami Reuben is to DIE for! Some of the best fries and fry sauce I've ever had as well. The onions rings were killer too. I had the spicy Philly Cheese Steak and it was fantastic. I don't think you can go wrong honestly.

Adding another review as I tried their philly for the first time! I think the Philly was absolutely delicious I added banana pepper (highly recommend if you like them) and it really brought all the flavors together. I will say my green peppers were missing which I honestly didn't notice until about 1/3 way through of the whole sandwich. But it was so good that I didn't even realize for a bit! Definitely recommend! Also their pickles are some of the best I've had. Stars were not altered. I’m very excited to write this review. Let me preface by stating I was a frequent customer of Empire before new management. I went in today for the first time to pick up my food. I ordered a small fry, pastrami Rueben, and a side of ranch. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, the house sauce was pretty good, I did end up eating the majority of the fries with the ranch though. But that’s because this ranch was AMAZING. The pastrami Rueben was really good as well! I highly suggest that if you were a frequent customer before the change to come in with an open mind and realize that it’s no longer the same business and some things are different and that’s ok! It was still really good and definitely worth the trip. Definitely have to try the corned beef rueben and a cold cut sandwich soon! Very pleased!

Owner of Empire Deli Jenn was very nasty and rude.I paid $35 for lunch and she made one of my orders completely wrong. Jen the owner actually took my order. I asked for a Chicken Philly with no Mushrooms, Peppers, & Onions but when I opened it it had Mushrooms, peppers, and onions. I even showed her my receipt and She told me she would not remake or refund but she can pick through it and take those items out. I attempted to have a conversation with her and explain I should get what I paid for and it’s also not Sanitary to pick through a sandwich and pick out items that are melted in cheese with meat. She expressed that she did not care and would not remake or refund.(there was no sign on the door or in the restaurant with this info) She began to state I was getting on her nerves and told me to leave. I expressed that I was not leaving until this was resolved. I even told her this was my first time coming and also was recommend to me. I began to state I was being treated poorly. She continue stating she doesn’t care and asked the man on the grill to handle me because I’m wasting her time and even threaten to call the police on me. The man on the grill told the owner there was nothing he could do because my order was actually incorrect. She then came back to the registered grab the sand which threw it on the floor and grab some cash out the register and threw it on the floor as well and told me to leave. That was VERY RUDE & UNPROFESSIONAL. Also I didn’t pay with cash nor did she give the full amount for the sandwich. I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone. As a person who works in customer service this was very unacceptable, and also the owner should be very disappointed in herself.

** & as you can see below Jen (the lady who told me she was the owner) has written a rude response just like the way she responded to me. If you read further into her reviews you will see that there is quite a few reviews that states the customer service is poor which I failed to reach before choosing the restaurant to eat lunch. It’s such a shame that someone can open a business but not cater to the ones that keep her open. Take the time below to see how she responded to a review lying, unprofessional, and still being very nasty. This is a sign to not eat at empire deli. I did have this all on footage and will be posting on Facebook and tagging Empire Deli! Please pray for this lady and her...

I am not one typically to go out of my way to poorly rate a business usually I'll wait for Google to suggest a rating but given that I've been there twice and had two different experiences I felt need to explain the very first visit was okay welcoming the owner was there taking our order but upon getting our food everything was delicious but for the price more lettuce than sandwich more bread than Philly and both times being there even asking for something as simple as mayonnaise added or ranch on the side keeps getting forgotten about upon the first visit the owner was sitting on the table beside all the bread talking about trading pills in a sense probably a joke that's cool still not kosher with me I grew up serving over a decade in the service industry and there is a time and a place for things and not when there's people watching. My second experience was actually more worse bless it no cheese on a Philly, nothing but stares from the staff females (mainly the one on the register today) who only cared about a cigarette break I'm a little disappointed I grew up in this industry I don't treat people like that and I definitely don't stare at people like that and it was very unwelcoming so that is why I took it upon myself tonight to leave a one-star review and just to say we will not be back ever!!! It's sad that we both ordered a basket that's 13.99 for a Philly when there's more bread than meat the chips were not homemade this time and the pasta salad is like a taste test not even an actual side it is definitely a rip off for the money I apologize but that's just my truth!! I truly wish I would have took pictures on both experiences it would have definitely validated the difference but I did not think to do so as it was a quick stop in between working but overall the consistency is not there at all and the staff needs to definitely do better all the tables were dirty we're not clean but that cigarette break was quick!!! I like consistency and I like being welcome and sitting at a clean table but that definitely seemed like a hard task today for...

This is not the same restaurant. I ordered the philly cheesesteak with no peppers, fries with house sauce as I had many times before. Brought it back to work, and was disgusted! First of all, the house sauce is NOT the same as it was!! Now, rather than having that spicy smooth taste, it now has a taste of over-powering mayo with random herbs that do nothing but taste like mayo-pickles. Gross. To make it even worse, now apparently when you order a philly, guess what sauce automatically comes added onto the philly-that nasty new house mayo sauce. If I had known this, I would have NEVER ordered this. Or at least, ordered the philly with no sauce. But there was no warning that this was the case. I wish the previous recipe would come back to the sauce, and if the new management wants to change up the menu standards, at least warn the regular customers about what comes standard on their NEW sandwiches. I say NEW because even though it looks like it might be Empire Deli, it's not. It used to be worth the extra money to have the perfect philly at the perfect hot temperature with the perfect fries and complimentary sauce-but now I feel like you have ruined what made Empire Deli so special. This is like what happened when Coca Cola came out with New Coke. Please follow their lead and just go back to the food the way it was-because it was worth the money back then. Not anymore. That sauce alone ruined the food. And now I’m out $23.30 because of all this mess. And if you want to know why I didn’t take it back; because when we arrived to pick up our take-out order, the guy at the counter didn’t realize we had already ordered and announced that they were now out of the philly cheesesteak. So it wasn’t like they could make it again without their nasty sauce. The new management should do everyone a favor and change their Deli name, because this isn’t the Empire...
