Recently saw the cabinet of curiosities. The gentleman who gave the tour was great, he was very kind and knowledgeable. The outdoor park is pleasant after the renovation, the walkways at the beginning leading to the cabinet are poorly curated; the lion statues are great but it looks like they were rushed in place with no thought or flow to the movement of the park. The cabinet, while having some neat objects that have been a part of the MOA collection for years, is sloppy, unrefined, and mediocre at best; it's a huge downgrade from what was created before. For being a non-profit with a mission to make art a part of everyday life, it's a little ironic that there is very little available to actually view the art along with a high cost for a disappointing experience. Overall a big let down.
Edit: first I want to say that I originally tried to make an appointment to see the park in October, then again in February, then I finally was finally able to book a tour in march.
to clarify, the lion statues are slowly collapsing into the soil from a poorly constructed retaining wall, they are crooked and sinking into the ground.
The cabinet itself, as mentioned, has cool objects that the museum has owned for years. The cabinets finished product overall was sloppy. Exposed wires could be seen, portions seemed sloppy and rushed, and NONE of the technology worked inside the cabinet.
Not everyone will agree with this review, as is the case with MOA, but that doesn't make this a biased review, it's an honest and realistic one. It's unfortunate that a for-profit non-profit can't receive any legitimate criticism without gaslighting.
Anyone can go look at photos posted on other reviews themselves and see what was originally created with the old cabinet and make their own decision on whether the level of quality that was produced this time around is worth the 20 ticket price while before it was free and accessible to the public on a...
Read moreWe have enjoyed the bluegrass concerts for the last 2 years. Great choice of bands and beautiful venue. We did have an issue with entering the event this past week. We arrived early in order to enter and get our seat preference. Once the ticket taker at the front began scanning tickets, an additional attendant starting scanning tickets from the back of the line and allowing those people to enter prior to those of us near the front of the line. We did not think this was fair to those of us who arrived early and had been waiting longer. Also, some people allow multiple friends to cut in line with them, again, not fair to those of us who do arrive...
Read moreIt would be nice if they updated their website and google to reflect that they’re facility is closed. My husband and I planned our vacation to include coming to this museum, and now we had to try to find another place nearby that fits into our schedule. Which is kind of hard to do because it looks like a lot of locations either say their closed but are actually open and other places that say their open online but when you get there, it’s closed. I’m not sure if this is something only specific to Denver, but this is the only city so far where we have had this...
