This place is new, so i will definitely re-review down the road.
I have eaten here twice here are my thoughts: Ordering- They use kiosks and minimal human interaction. In theory this sounds fine, but the interface is bit odd to use and people seemed generally confused on how to use them, so this is quite slow. If you order online or ahead of time you can avoid this, but not a very seamless order method that is partially the userbase and restaurant.
Food options- They have plenty of options ranging from grab and go to made to order food. I think most people could find something they like for any dietary needs!!
Food quality- I have eaten here twice.
The first item was a pizza, it was hot when i got it and tasted good. Not the best pizza i have had but not the worst, for the convenience its good.
The second was a burger. The burger itself was good, they messed up the toppings which wasn't a huge bother. I ordered onion rings but received Fries, i was in a hurry so couldn't ask for a new order but the fries were cold in less than 5 mins from receiving the text to come grab.
Overall i would say not bad but not good for 2 visits. From a convenience perspective they have my business, but i wouldn't go out of my way...
Read moreI enjoy Urban Market and have eaten my lunch here daily for many years, but it used to be better than it is now. Since I have type 2 diabetes, I have found it gradually more difficult to select carb friendly meal options. Lately, it seems like the breakfast or salad bar are my only options. However, there is no longer smoked salmon on it, and where there used to be rotating hot food options, that was replaced years ago with a sandwich bar. My options have been reduced to a salad, or a no-bread “sandwich” or burger with no bun at Flame, although, sometimes I can venture to have some tacos at Pico Mesa if I take a jog afterwards. I’ve also been keeping an eye on rotating options at Food Works, but rarely if ever have seen anything show up there with carb friendly options. Even if I could substitute some sides, the checkout system doesn’t let me, so most of what I would order there would be wasted even if the main course were carb friendly enough. Granted that my dietary restrictions can pose a challenge at any restaurant, I work nearby and it is most convenient for me to head here than make a journey elsewhere. I just wish that they would bring back more of the variety...
Read moreHad Sushi Man yesterday and while the fish quality was good, the sashimi was INCREDIBLY expensive for what you got -- the slices were cut extremely thin and my 8-piece meal was $18. And they don't stock lemon to squeeze over your fish (sorry if that's bad sushi style! haha) That said, the Urban Market managers did source me a few lemon wedges from (I believe) another restaurant.
So, I would have done a 4-star if it wasn't for my experience today. Tried Pico Mesa for the first time and got the carne asada tacos. Multiple issues here -- 1st, I ate my food within 5 minutes of getting it and the steak was cold. 2nd, the flavor of the steak was EXTREMELY overpowered by the spicy salsa (and I like spice) -- I could barely eat it and 30min. later my lips are still a bit tingly. 3rd, there was no rice??? But it says right on the menu that you get 3 tacos with Mexican rice??? I think I know my Spanish at least and it says "con arroz mexicano"! I won't be wasting my money at this option in Urban...
