Went here for the first time for dinner with a friend. The food was pretty good and the ambience is fairly nice, but it’s pretty much on par with several of the other nicer Indian restaurants in the area. It is in a great location in the Greenwood Plaza area, although it’s tucked back in so it would be easy to miss if you don’t know it’s there. The one gripe about the physical restaurant itself is that the music was entirely too loud and obnoxious-it was more like Indian rock music. They definitely need to turn the volume down so customers can enjoy conversation without hearing blaring music. The loud music was definitely an annoyance throughout the entire meal. At least play music that is instrumental-the Indian rock (or whatever it is) is not ideal for a restaurant setting where people like to enjoy conversation with their family and friends.
As for the food, I had the vegetable samosa and chicken biryani and thought it was very good-you get a lot of food for sure! I had enough leftovers for 1.5-2 more meals I did find the chicken biryani to be a little too much on the spicy side-definitely spicier than I’ve had at other places-and I like spicy foods In terms of food alone, -I would give them a solid 4 stars
What I knocked them down for is their lack luster customer service. Our waitress was not very friendly or attentive, and she seemed put out with any small request. At the end of the meal, she seemed to want to rush us out of there even though there were only a handful of people in the restaurant at the time-it’s not like my friend and I were sitting there taking up valuable table space during a peak weekend rush-this was middle of the week. The waitress seemed insistent on collecting the check right away, so much so that she came by 3 (!) times all within 10 minutes asking if we were ready to pay and one time whisked the bill away before we even had a chance to put the credit card in My friend and I thought this was rather rude, and it gave us the impression that they wanted us to leave even though the restaurant wasn't anywhere near closing or busy. Strange. At the end of the meal, an older gentleman came by who may have been the owner (not sure), and he was not friendly at all & didn’t even speak to us. He just seemed put out that we asked for a to go container. My advice to the owners: friendly, attentive customer service is what keeps people coming back so you need to improve on that if you want repeat customers. Your food is delicious, but your service is lacking and needs to be better. I write this review with that in mind because I DO think this is a hidden gem with a good food. I hope they will improve their customer service, and if they do this will definitely be a winner that I will come to on a regular basis. 😊
All in all, if you’re looking for good food, take out might be the better way to go. Or dine in if you don’t mind not so great customer service. But the food is delicious and I would recommend it...
Read moreWe have been coming to Denver for a month each year for a few years now. In the past, while we have tried some Indian restaurants but have not necessarily been completely satisfied. Let's just say most of the places have been sub par. We were craving dosas and this place had amazing reviews. So we drove all the way from Golden (a nice hike) to this place and I am glad we did. First off, their service is absolutely AMAZING. No, it's not what you would get at the Peninsula, Ritz or the Waldorf. It was fantastic service where you actually felt human. Perhaps because the staff and we both are of Indian origin (But I also saw their interaction with non Indians which was equally fantastic.) We liked their stuff so much that we ended up going here again a week before leaving Denver. The paneer masala was OUTRAGEOUS. They do an amazing job on their dosas too. Unlike a lot of places where the coconut chutney is a little on the thinner side, theirs was just right. Palak paneer too was fantastic. The paneer was so fresh. I haven't yet tried any of their meats but next time will try some of those out. Desi people; some experiences in the past and just sheer inaccurate assumptions in the past have led me to believe when you go to a South Indian restaurant, they do the South Indian things wonderfully but we should not expect the Western or North Indian things to be what we would expect in a regular Indian restaurant and vice versa. I'm happy to report that in this instance, I was plain old wrong. These folks do an amazing job even on their other cuisines that I have tasted so far. My only 2 gripes (and this is a personal opinion and does not in any way affect the overall quality of the restaurant, staff and food) are: $10 for 2 samosas? Ok, I'm not a stingy person but I can't pay $10 for 2 samosas even though samosas are MY FAVORITE They add a 3% fee for some extra renovation or something. I'm sorry I forget but I'm not a fan of these 'added' fees being added all over the place. We are looking forward to coming back...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Garnish Indian Restaurant with my family, and it was an experience that deserves nothing less than a glowing five-star review! From the moment we walked in with our party of nine, the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us with warmth and efficiency. They seamlessly arranged seating for our large group, ensuring everyone felt comfortable and welcomed. The food at Garnish is, without exaggeration, the best Indian cuisine I’ve ever tasted in Colorado. Every dish was a masterpiece—bursting with authentic flavors, perfectly balanced spices, and fresh ingredients. From the buttery, melt-in-your-mouth Butter Chicken to the fragrant Biryani and the perfectly spiced Tikka Masala, each bite was a testament to the culinary expertise in their kitchen. The menu also offered a fantastic variety, catering to both vegetarians and meat lovers, with options for every spice preference. The naan—oh, the naan—was fresh, fluffy, and the perfect complement to the rich curries. What truly sets Garnish apart is their exceptional staff. They were attentive, friendly, and genuinely passionate about ensuring we had a memorable dining experience. Despite our large group, they handled every request with grace and kept the meal flowing smoothly, offering thoughtful recommendations and checking in just the right amount. Their hospitality made us feel like we were dining in their home. The ambiance was cozy yet elegant, creating the perfect backdrop for our family gathering. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Garnish Indian Restaurant is a must-visit. It’s not just a meal—it’s an experience that leaves you eager to return.
