This is a two part review since I didn't finish my Christmas draft, so two takes confirms my 5 star review :-)
We have passed by this place quite a few times since they opened and a couple times we were going to stop in it looked a little too crowded so we passe it up. However when we attended the beer pairing at the newly opened Safari Club restaurant at the NEW Gulf Shores Zoo we got our first taste of their brews and we were impressed. So we were just looking for a good time to check them out proper.
So we came out for the launch of the Yacht Rocker Margarita beer. It's pretty darn good, brisk, full bodied with a hint of citrus (lime) it's a real quencher. Plus there's Solly's Tex Mex food truck in the parking lot, cheers! The City of Gulf Shores just lifted a ban on food trucks & street food vendors this week and their guys wasted no time taking advantage of bringing a food truck in right away. Tonight 12-21-19 they're bringing in Bleus Burgers, more good stuff! Since this is beer only brewery with no food they have always encouraged patrons to bring food, get your pizza or other deliveries here where there's lots of dining ready tables inside and lots of picnic tables outside, smart! You can even sit on the comfy couch in front of the fireplace and eat on the coffee table or with the comfy high back chairs as well. Across the street is Pho Shizzle, and next door is the Diner and two doors over is China Dragon but of course you can order delivery so eats are not an issue, drink up :-)
The stage area is big enough to support a decent sized band and the acoustics are pretty decent. To add to the ambiance there is a resident tabby cat that comes and goes and has no issues jumping in your lap for some head scratching and tummy rubs, until of course someone comes in with a big dog on a leash and freaks the cat out LOL I saw that happen LOL kitty exit stage right :-) So needless to say your furry friends are also most welcome here. The parking is a little tight but there's plenty of street parking for any overflow so it's all good.
Who has a beer keg Christmas tree? These guys do, very cool!! Merry Chris.... hiccup.....tmas!!!
Now back to the future ........ 1/10/20
It"s date night Friday at Big Beach Brewery doing some Yacht Rocker Margarita beer made right here, sipping this citrusy concoction by the fireplace waiting to get the party started. The band arrives and starts up promptly at 6pm and their pretty darn good, we'll be looking for "The Destinations" again PLUS outside Solly's "World Famous" Tex-Mex food truck is serving up their tacos & other fare. So all in all it made for a nice date night indeed.
Bottom line: The staff are friendly and professional, you can bring your growlers from home for a fill, the place is laid back and comfy and they make some mighty fine brews, highly...
Read moreWas there February 18. Stepped up to the bar to place my order, and the guy behind the bar told me to have the girl take my order. When she eventually came over, I asked her a couple of questions about the beers and started to place my order. At this point she turned away and took someone else's order down the bar from me.
I had to get the guy back over and have him take my order. You can get a 16 ounce glass of beer, or get four 4 ounce glasses of of different beers (16 ounces) if you want to sample. I wanted four 4 ounce glasses of different beer to sample. He gave me a slip of paper to write my selections down, and filled my order.
I finished those four beers, and wanted to order another four beers to sample. I called the girl over and asked her for a slip of paper so I could give her my new order. She brought me a pen but no slip of paper, and just walked away. She was not very friendly either time I tried to order from her. I had to call the guy over again and place my order.
They charge $5.00 for a 16 ounce glass of beer, but charge you $8.00 for 16 ounces of beer if you get a sampler (the smaller 4 ounce glasses). I really don't like that they were charging me $3.00 more for the same amount of beer. That, on top of the bad service.
For those reasons I won't be going back. I was looking forward to going there and trying out their beers. Just a bad experience overall. I see other people have made...
Read moreSo today the four of us went to BBB.Two couples, 3 drinkers one designated driver. We walked up to the bar ordered a flight of beer and my husband asked the bartender if we could also get a glass of ice water for me since I was the designated driver. The bartender very rudely said you have to get it yourself..it's down the hallway ( the attitude changed as if to say he of the woman is not drinking we're not making money). So I walked down the hallway were i found a couple of water igloo coolers with a stack of plastic cups, conveniently located above the trashcan and next to the bathrooms.Lovely ,cold water only no ice.So apparently the BBB cares more about people drinking their beer then after the visit ,getting home safely and not driving drunk.Needless to say we won't be back,BTW we are local not tourists.Any place else ,we as a group have always been treated with great respect t for picking a designated driver and it was always revered as "hey can we get you a glass of ice water or a softdrink on the house".Those places knew we would return and they are making money be getting repeat customers that weren't killed on their way home...
