TLDR: Great experience on both rooms we did (mystery manor and hidden temple). Puzzles were fun and engaging, not just locks and codes. Priced very reasonably for the level of complexity the rooms are. We paid $30 a person and felt it was worth every penny. Highly recommend.
Full review: I have done a few other escape rooms in the past and these were the best. Most other rooms I've done involve a lot of "code breaking" and riddle solving to get the combination to a lock that gives the next clue or a key. Without giving away any spoilers, these rooms have more engaging puzzles that require team work and while there are definitely riddles and lock combinations there is much more. The rooms are very immersive and you forget that you're not actually in a haunted mansion or ancient temple. The rooms have a lot of interactive props and surprises. Every one of us got at least one good scare from the mystery manor room. We loved both rooms with 2 min left and breathing hard from excitement and the feeling of accomplishment.
The clue system is much better than anything I've seen in the past and even if you don't want to use clues, they will give you little bumps in the right direction if you need. For example in other rooms I've had times where a clue was misunderstood or worded badly and we spent way too much time following a dead end. If you're stuck doing the wrong thing because of a misunderstanding, they will tell you to re read the clue or point out a part of clue that you weren't catching without giving you the answer so you don't waste your time or have to ask for a clue.
As I mentioned above the price is great! $30 a person for a group of 4 was well worth it. I've spent more on much less detailed and interactive rooms before.
Only downside I would say is in the mystery manor the lighting is very dim and the lights flicker/go out periodically making reading difficult if you don't see well in the dark like me. It does add a lot to the experience but I wish there had been better lighting tools. For example the hidden temple room had dim lighting, but they have a torch you can carry though the room to help you see.
Overall this was such a great experience I wish I didn't live on the other side of the country so I could go back and do the rest...
Read moreEscape Rooms I’ve Beaten (Total: 8) – Ranked & Reviewed I always play with unlimited clues, and these are my personal ratings based on theme, challenge level, and overall experience.
⸻
Invasion (Milwaukee) – 10/10 Semi-difficult, but the theme and puzzles are fantastic. If you’re into creepy, mysterious vibes, this one is a must. Highly recommend!
Magic Heist (Woodfield Mall) – 10/10 Surprisingly large space with super fun puzzles and great flow. Perfect for any skill level—I’d recommend this to anyone.
Merlin’s Legacy (Milwaukee) – 9/10 Excellent theme with some non-obvious puzzles. Definitely leaned on unlimited clues, but it was worth it. Highly recommend for fantasy fans.
Cheesie’s Pizza (Woodfield Mall) – 8/10 Loved the quirky, Five Nights at Freddy’s-style theme. One puzzle was frustrating, but overall it was a fun experience. Bonus: you get take-home souvenir tickets!
Mystery Manor (Woodfield Mall) – 8.5/10 Less challenging than others but still really fun. Great intro escape room for beginners. You even get a souvenir deed to the house at the end!
Lockbuster Video (Woodfield Mall) – 7/10 Straightforward with an interesting way of unlocking new areas. It’s different, but not my top pick. Still worth doing if you’re a fan of retro vibes.
Arctic Expedition (Woodfield Mall) – 6.5/10 We would’ve been totally stuck without unlimited clues. Some parts are just too confusing. Not my favorite, and I wouldn’t recommend it.
Jurassic Outpost (Woodfield Mall) – 4/10 Easily the most confusing of them all. Even with unlimited clues, we only made it through because the game master took pity on us. I wasn’t a fan of the theme either, so that could be bias—but I wouldn’t...
Read more60 to Escape was hands down the best escape room facility that we've been to. We traveled to Chicago from Minnesota and on an off day, decided to give it a try. We loved that we were able to book the room as private, as it was 2 adults and 2 children. We did Museum and loved it! We had just figured out the clue to the vault, when our time ran out. It was challenging, but you kind of figured out how to start (won't give away any info) by looking around the room. We had so much fun that we decided to book another experience for the following day. The 2nd time we did Bomb Squad. This one we decided to pay for unlimited clues, because our youngest child didn't like the "excitement" we showed at the end of the previous one as we were frantically trying to get into the vault. We thought Bomb Squad was more challenging because there wasn't anything indicating where to start. The unlimited clues was worth it. I think we ended up using 10-12 clues (standard is you get 6 clues) and we finished with 13 minutes left. I think we could have done without a few clues, but the kids really liked pushing the button to ask for them :) All in all, we would HIGHLY recommend checking out 60 to Escape for a fun night out with adults, a fun activity for travelers or a fun family time. I should also mention that the staff was extremely nice, helpful and a great addition to the...
