If I could give this place zero stars I would. Extremely poor customer service and Jo the owner is very, very rude. Save your money and go to a place with good food and good customer service. My name is Karla and my husband and I are on vacation we drove over 2 hours to get here. We decided to go to the mall and get some shopping done and thought while we're there we would grab a quick bite to eat. We both decided between Kelly's Cajun Grill and Charley's Philly Steaks, my husband told me to choose and I chose Kelly's which was a super extremely bad judgement call on my part. We just wanted something small to hold us over before dinner, so we decided to share a meal. We got fried rice, roasted potatoes and spicy chicken with jalapenos and onions plus a coke with the meal. I paid cash, she didn't give me a receipt. We sat down to eat and got almost done with the food when I noticed a hair in the food so I promptly went back to the lady at the counter who told me her name was "Jo" and told her about the situation to which she said that she could give me more food which I refused because I had already lost my appetite by that point she also offered any drink that I'd like which I also refused to which point she said she could did not give refunds. I asked for my receipt and she flat out told me she couldn't give it to me which is illegal to do. At that point I asked another restaurant what I could do about the situation and they told me to alert maintenance and they could call security for me so I did. When security came I told them everything that happened and they went to talk to her and again she flat out refused to produce a receipt or refund my money. At that point I decided to speak to mall management but once we got to the office it was closed. We got there at 4:50pm they close at 5pm I called mall management today and told them the whole situation and they told me to write an email, hopefully they...
Read moreHALF OF A TOOTHPICK WAS FOUND IN THEIR MEAT. PLEASE READ.
Kelly’s Cajun Grill has been one of my favorite restaurants since I first discovered it. However, this will be the last time I eat from there. I ordered Take-Out about two weeks ago and was eating the leftovers a few days later when I felt something unusual in my mouth while I was chewing the food. I thought, could it be a bone? But, Cajun Grill meat doesn’t have any bones in them. To my horror, it was HALF of a toothpick in my mouth. I never experienced something like this before.
I contacted the Lake County Health Department Environmental Health services and they did an inspection on 03/07/24. This is the voicemail they left me: “we did a full routine inspection, we didn't find anything out of the ordinary as far as like contaminated food but we did find that sometimes when customers are walking up to the facility allows them to a sample of product I think it was the bourbon chicken and they use toothpicks for those. I know from the complaint that that was like a piece of wood may have been in the food…”
In conclusion, they could not do anything about this issue. If the employees use toothpicks to provide samples to the customers, wouldn’t they notice that the toothpick they used broke off while picking the meat and so they should remove that meat or cook a new batch of meat if they couldn’t find the other piece of the toothpick? Human error corrected. My concern is, it wasn’t corrected.
The Lake County Health Department don’t realize the severity of the situation. They didn’t even ask for pictures! If I swallowed that toothpick, it could have punctured my organs, caused internal bleeding. It could have been fatal. I always ask myself, what if my order was for a child?
I don’t want my restaurant to be shut down, but I don’t want anyone else to experience...
Read moreTastes very excellent! But pay attention --- in this better location (there are 2 locations inside Gurnee mall, and only the one nearest to the ice skating rink is good; the other one is bad, and the other foods sucks). That said, the food is great at this better location, when it is first made in the morning, or refreshed later. By 1pm or starts to taste a little old. Maybe they re-cook at 2:30pm. 🤔 also they use a lot of cheap inflammatory seed oils. These are not genuine avocado oil, so you are gunna get TONS of massive head and body inflammation the next day!!!
There are 2 locations here, and I'm rating the much better one that is closer to the ice skating rink. Don't go to the other one because they really suck. Only go to the one near the ice skating rink!!!
Anyway... This place is rated 3.7, but I think it is a 5. The food tastes great. Vegetables are perfectly seasoned. It is kind of expensive for foodcourt food, however. Gotta lower them prices just a tad for it to be in the ranks to be considered as...
